What benefits would someone be eligable for if they had:
severe OCD
Bipolar Disorder
And a doctor had said that they were not suitable for work?
This person is in a couple, partner brings home £1200 per month. Has mortgage/rent (shared ownership) of £325/£220 and council tax of about £120.

Has the claimant been in paid work recently, and over the past few years? If so, they may also be eligible for ESA.Gone ... or have I?0

Yes, full time for 2 1/2 years. I don't think DLA would apply as she is able to dress herself, prepare meals etc. It is just that she is frequently anxious, panicked and aggressive. She also takes long to complete tasks.
Because of this her employers sent her to an independent doctor to determine her suitability to work and they reported that she is unsuitable to work for at least 2 months. She is now claiming SSP and wants to go back, but we doubt they will let her.0 -

hi there,
i am new on here, but i work in Mental Health....
you friend would be ebntitled to DLA and also mobility component if she is unable to travel on own etc.
has she got a social worker who is helping her, as most refferals to a commuinty mental health team do get a refferal to this service. the social worker CPN, would be able to support her to get her benefoits sorted out. i also suggest she gets in touch with MIND ( mental health charity):j
hope this helps a little0 -

They said that she could not carry out her current role (catering assistant) and that no other roles where she works (hospital) would be suitable. They didn't make any reference to other work though.0
