The garage has to have the chance to fix the problems, you took the car to a 3rd party so it is up to you to pay for it.If you can keep your cool and deal with the garage pleasantly you will get a lot more out of them.
A 7 year old car will most probably have some problems(some brand new ones do!)If the garage got it at auction they will have had less chance than you to inspect it and wont know if it has problems.
And TBH the CD player is the least important thing, although it is surprising how many people will base their decision to buy a car on wether or not it's got one! Am thinking of a new one:beer:0 -

I kept my cool up until today even after my emails being ignored and no calls were returned etc. etc.
The manager guy was not responding to my messages so I even went to the extent to write nice letters, and send them by recorded delivery, so he can have plenty of time to read and respond, but no, he didn't reply, but had his mechanic reply to me instead. The mechanic guy has no saying whatsoever when it comes to ANY expenses (such as to cover my travel expenses and courtesy car) and didn't help the situation much.
I was so nice to them even write to them offering to take time off from my work to suites the manager's convenience so I can see him eye to eye and discuss the matter, rather than relying on snail mail methods,
and mechanic guy told me to show up at certain time, so there I went, and the manager guy wasn't even there.
So, no, I don't think I can get anything out of this place, and am lucky if they even manage to fix the obvious faults, which I doubt very much.
CD player was not one of the reason I bought the car, (I've been living without it now for a month and am fine) but it IS illegal to state something in car ads that is not there, and I was told by Trading Standard that I am entitled for discount. I think that's pretty reasonable. Don't you agree?0
