I don't need another insult after the day I had, thank you very much.

You are telling me that 7 year old car should be faulty and unfit for purpose, and you should be able to spot ALL the problems (which cannot be fixed by the garage after 1 week of inspection) all by yourself prior to purchase, otherwise you should be stuck with the faulty car and get verbally abused by the dealer and likes of you?

Nice world I am living in.

Lets hope the brakes fail on the said car and we don't hear anymore from the OP...

As for the faults, you have to give thge dealer a few chances at putting it right before you go down the SOGA route...

As for the faulse advertisement of the steroe - us dealers are only human and do make mistakes. What difference does it make whether it's a multi play or single? you can only listen to one disk at a time !!!!!!...

Wow, nice one, now you want me dead, and you sell cars? I bet cars you are selling have killed certain customers before they made any complaints to you.

What difference does it make? A few hundred pounds in re-sale price!!

Like I said, I bough a car (which was maxing my budget, so it's not just any cheap car) because my friend, who was in car industry for so many years, sort of recommended it. I was going to request for AA pre-sale inspection, and my friend stopped me. It is not entirely my idea to assume the car was OK. But it wasn't.

I am following strictly the Consumer Direct guidelines, and they have assured me that it is not my duty to be aware of all the problems of the vehicle prior to the sales, and the dealer has duty to sell the car that is fit for purpose.

Please stop all the abuse, I didn't put up this thread for you to prove that I am not worthy of living, or buying a car.

More like lets hope the brakes fail on said car while you are crossing the road in front of it.

Your comment says it all about what sort of (car?) dealer you are.

OP, don't have any specific advice but when I've had similar problems I wrote to the head office (obviously this depends if you went to a main dealer or not). Generally got a good response after doing this.

You have to give the selling garage a few times to fix the car. This could be the next week or it could go on for a few weeks depending on what they do etc. Some faults are trial and error at finding them. Asking for a refund after the 2nd time of returning the car wont get you very far.

For the last 8 months I've been replacing things on a customers car left, right and centre - all at our own cost as we can't get to the bottom of the problem. The customer is very calm about the whole thing and is also very understanding that faults can be hard to trace.

Loosing power at 75 is a fault that we wouldn't deal with as we wouldn't want to risk the licence of the staff involved.

One of the problems with taking friends along to view a car is that of something goes wrong with it then you will moan at them!

This time is the second chance they are getting. I am hoping this would be it, I had enough and cannot do it for the 3rd time, it's been 2months already, taking too long. Having driven a dodgey car 450miles each week, after week is bad enough, but to take time off from work and drive all the way back to the dealer to get insulted is quite another.

75mph is completely legal IF speeding up to avoid dangerous situation, or taking over a car doing less than NSP. This problem was spotted by an independent VW garage, but I have noticed the same problem at 65mph when speeding up rapidly. (Let's say from 50mph to 70mph in 5 sec.) The cause of this was already diagnosed by above garage, so they don't have to risk their license.

Thank you for your post ;)

The place is one and only, no head office, no branches. The guy who gave me verbal abuse WAS the owner and the top guy. So, I shall continue talking to the Consumer Direct!

If its a VW with lack of power then it'l be the AMM/MAF.

As this is the motoring forum what are the problems with the car? As we may be able to help or advise...

Probably just needs a new speedo cable.
Most are electronic. Need a new sender unit or the wiring has a fault.

If the fuel level is wrong too then I'd suspect the instrument display wiring. Earth fault, that sort of thing.

Failure of air flow meter (aka air mass meter) is common on some vw's.
    Happy chappy

The VW garage said the loss of power comes from a fault with boost pressure valve. That was found after a VAG scan.

Let's see if they can fix problems this time. I never even want to talk to the manager guy evr again, but I will have to if they fail again! as well as to negotiate the price off + re; them covering all the extra expenses.
