Avast! & PCTools Firewall were recommended to me not all that long ago. But whatever you download onto your laptop make sure you run a frequent scan.

I ran a scan on Sunday and found I'd got a trojan so you still need to be careful regardless. With PCTools Firewall you don't necessarily have to run a scan as this will be done every time you switch on your laptop. I do run a scan with PCTools Firewall now and then all the same just in-case.

I suggest installing Firefox or Opera rather than using IE ;)

Unless of course you're using Windows Vista or 7 with UAC enabled, in which case IE7/8 become more secure than any other browser ;)

There will be if it is the user's preferred browser and they choose to install it, which I'm sure many will do.

Or be installed as part of the many millions of pirated installs which won't be the EU specific versions ;)
