Item not received

Won and paid (Paypal) for a small electrical item 2 weeks ago. Paid £6.99 P&P and £2.99 insurance. Havnt received the item and the seller (who is a trading assistant) says he is chasing it. He sells lots of these items and I did win mine at a lot lower price as it was an Sunday morning finish. Having paid insurance would I be in my rights to ask him to send another of the same if he offers a refund as I dont want to lose this bargain.

If you paid via paypal you can also put in a claim via paypal unless you want to give the seller benefit of the doubt and give him more doubt - is he a power seller or sells alot? Does he have high feedback ratings?
Ask him if he is willing to send another out to you or have you to put in a claim via paypal - that should get his rear moving!!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
Yes, he is a Power Seller , A Trading Assistant with a rating of 579 and 98.5% feedback. He has just emailed to say that it was delivered on the 23rd March at 15.23. Have replied saying Dont know where it was delivered, but definatley not here.0

If he doesnt get back to you pretty soon with whether he will be sending out another or refunding you i would put in a claim, dont take any excuses. His feedback doesnt look ideal to me to give him the benefit of the doubt0

Why doesnt his feedback look ideal? Not everyone has 100% feedback!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
His feedback is ok. A couple of problems with things not received back last September, but overall its good.
As I paid him an extra £2.99 for insurance, surely I am covered if its gone missing in the post.0 -
As you paid by paypal you can do a chargeback if the item is not received, the insurance only protects the seller not the buyer anyway so there is not a need to pay an optional extra if you use paypal.

On his Auction postage etc details. It was stated £2.99 insurance REQUIRED.
So what does it cover for if its for the sellers benefit ?0 -
i would email the seller again tomorrow if your item hasnt turned up and you havent heard anything from him and say that if you dont hear anything by the end a certain day then you will start a chargeback with paypal? I guess the insurance will add some more money on for the seller - I would have expected it to cover for any loss or damage to be honest!!Weight Loss - 102lb0

It's a way some sellers bump up their profits as a normal search view for an item will show item cost and post and packing which may make an item look competitive, it isn't until you go into the auction you see the added extras.
Paypal cover you against loss anyway, and if you don't trust paypal to get your money back, and they don't always, then always use a credit card with paypal to fund your purchases.

Patgc again,
Pulled up his contact details from Ebay so that I could phone him. Concerned to see that he has no contact details, (Private) and an obviously false telephone number. 01234 567890 ! Have emailed him again expressing my concerns asking him why and if he will send a replacement. Havnt heard anything back as yet.
If I am going to claim, do I do it through Ebay or PayPal or my credit card which funded the payment.0
