Help needed buying my first NEW car

Best tip. Visit as many dealers as you can possibly get to in the space of a day. Get a full quote including price for your old car from all of them.
Make it very clear when you visit that you are going to all the local dealers and getting prices. Also some will throw in extras rather than reduce the price.
It's very important in doing this to know the exact spec you want before you go, so you know you are comparing like with like.
Then when you find the best deal, try to get them to give you more!0 -
Hiya all,
thanks for all the advise, it is much appreciated. I went out and test drove the IQ with my wife and to say that I was dissapointed is an understatement.
The ride was very poor and the body roll around corners was awful. The car itself was nice to look at in my opinion but I know it is not to everyone's taste.
The seats in the car were not up to a good standard and I felt as if I was going to fall off them. One good thing was that the salesman was very nice and did not try to push us into buying one there and then.
The price on the car was also very very high at £11000 with not a lot of movement. The wait for one is about 10 weeks (this is why there is not a lot of movement on price).
Anyway we then went and test drove a Citroen C1 and I was surprisingly happy with the drive and how simple everything was. There is also a Citroen C1 Splash currently on special offer and this with elec windows, remote central locking and air con comes in at £8000.
The other car we will also be looking at is a Fiat Panda Active Eco as they are currently offering this for £6000 without aircon, nearly half the price of the IQ and this is with no haggling.
Let me know what you all think again and sorry for messing you all about with the IQ!!!!0 -

did you have a look at the aygo when you were at the toyota dealers? its the same as the c1 and the peugeot 107....work permit granted!0 -
Yeah we did look at the aygo but it costs around £8000 without remote locking, air con etc, the peugeot 107 is also alot more expensive and as you say they are the same car so the Citreon seemed the only choice out of the three.0

tich2 - don't buy a car without air conditioning. Mine wasn't working properly a few weeks ago (needed re-gassing), It wasn't very pleasant driving on the motorway with the windows open and after parking for an hour it took forever to cool the car down with the open windows. I'm not going to try tell you what car is best for you but I would certainly consider air-con if I were you.
ML.He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0 -
I will always go for air con Emmell, after you have it, it's a must IMO.0
