Vodafone - Cancelling
hi all,
called Vodafone to tell them i want to cancel today (even though i want to stay!). Played ball with the guy, told him what i want, but he wasn't offering anything above what was advertised on the website.
I said that i would put it in writing to them, and wanted a confirmation of it.
Will they definately phone again, and if the deals that are offered the next time around, will they call one last time, or is it just one call I would receive after they receive the letter?
thanks

I have been with Vodafone for 3 years. 1 year on PAYG and then the last two on a £30 monthly tariff with 200 xnet minutes and 500 texts. I have just tried to get an upgrade as my contract expired in February and to get the Sony Ericssion W810i they wanted £120. I advised them that it is £40 on the Vodafone website if I was to get the same contract with the W810i and was told that it is for new customers only. I got put through to Retentions and he said the best he can do is £80. If I was to upgrade my account to a 18 month contract (on the same tariff) then I can get it for £8! I explained I am on a 12 month contract and want to stay on this and am willing to pay the £40 right now if he can offer it. He told me there isn’t. I told him I can get it for £69.99 with O2 for the same phone and tariff on a 12 month contract and still he can not go lower than £80. I then requested my PAC code hoping this will change his mind but it didn’t and he advised it will be with me within 3-5 days. I do not really want to leave Vodafone as so far I have never had a problem with them and I get reception every where I go.
My main reason for not wanting a 18 month contract is that the phone will only have a 12 month warranty and if it breaks/goes wrong after this then for 6 months I will have to get a new phone.
Has anyone had any joy getting an upgrade recently? Any words of advice on how I can get a W810i cheap?0 -
I tried to get upgrade with no luck, wanted Nokia N70, they wanted £80. I wrote and asked for pac code, emailed to confirm. Then rang and they gave me the number. Two days later they rang asking me why I was leaving , said I wanted free upgrade, no problems, which phone did I want, arrived two days later.if i had known then what i know now0

I so wish I'd done that

Salli9 - You were spot on!!!!!
Just this minute had a call from Lisa at Vodafone. Queried why I was leaving and I simply said that Vodafone are unable to provide me with an upgrade. She asked for the phone I would like (told her Sony Ericsson W810i) and asked if I was happy with my price plan (which I am). 10 seconds later she said, 'We can give you the upgrade for free'!!! I nearly fell off my chair! I was expecting them to match the £40 which I was willing to pay. Checked with her to confirm that it is the correct phone and that I will still be on a 12 month contract and all was good. Happy days!
Only problem was that the phone was not in stock but she popped me on hold and did a check. Told me they will have some later today or tomorrow morning and will call me back then to confirm delivery.
Why they could not do this first time is beyond me. Surely existing customers should be valued as much as new customers.
Be strong everyone, don't pay what they want and they will then come running wanting your money.0 -
well,
I phoned to Cancel - "....send in the letter"
I sent in the letter.
2 days later i got the call
.....and the guy didn't offer me a sausage!!!
told him there were better deals elswhere, and gave him a few examples, but the bloke was pretty useless to be honest. Didn't say anything along the lines of "what would keep you at Vodafone" . So, PAC code is in the post apparently.
Do i have 30 days to find a network upon receipt of the letter and PAC code?
Is it worth a call to their retentions department (if so what's the number) or should i hang tight for another call?0 -

Not sure whats going on at Vodafone at the moment. Called on Friday to say I wanted leave. The bloke asked why and I explained that after two and half years I still didn't qualify for an upgrade, and that i'd seen the flext plan. He asked if i'd seen a specific phone I liked. I said yeah, the Nokia 6230i. His response, "we can do that for free". Well I ummed and err'ed. He then offered me a bluetooth headset and 6 months free insurance.
Phone turned up Monday, no bluetooth headset or documentation about the insurance. Phoned Vodafone, nothing on the system about insurance or headset. The person I spoke to will get the guy who authorised all this to call me and double check it all. That was Monday, still heard nothing.
If they refuse it, I'll probably leave any way.
