Hitachi 32LD30U TV problem

Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I really need help with this. I've just got a hitachi 32LD30U A television and works. But when I go to turn it on, 99% of the time the standby or on/off light flashes red/green/red/green..... and won't come on. The only way to get it to stop is to switch the TV off at the mains and try again. Any ideas why it is doing this and how to fix it?

    I've just bought a new one from Argos. Straight out of the box, plugged in not working. Nothing.
