Argos are likely to be over priced by atleast £80“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

i bought my 450D from currys
£499 and got £50 Back from Cannon
Argos are overpriced for the camera0 -
Note than the 450D comes with an IS (Image Stabilised) Lens, the 1000D does not.
Although theres not a huge amount of differences between the 2 cameras. I think the 450D is a much nicer camera:
1000D
10.1 Megapixels
LCD screen size 2.5"
7 autofocus points
All plastic body
Non-IS Lens
450D
12.2 Megapixels
LCD screen size 3.0"
9 autofocus points
All plastic body with rubber grips for right fingers/thumb
IS Lens
Both support all the same lenses and accessories.0 -
tbh Argos price on SLRs seems to be very reasonable to me.
I have both cameras and there's nothing really in it between the 2 the biggest difference is the 1000D doesnt have an IR remote sensor so remote cable shutter release only which is a bummer.
They're both fantastic, as for the IS/non-IS well to be honest the 18-55mm is a fairly crappy lens either way so you'd be best off forgetting both and getting a kit with the superb 17-85mm IS lens that the 40D comes with it gives much better pics, you can turn the IS on/off as needed and it's much more versatile.
If anything the 1000D slightly nudges it in the noise stakes due to the lower pixel count but they're brilliant cameras also the new 500D is gorgeous but hideously expensive0 -
Where can you buy it cheaper?
You paid £13 more than the Argos price for it.
I Paid 449 :P got staff discount off someone i know
But the price is 499, also Cannon did give £50 back
so tec i paid 399.
Argos down the road are charging 569 for the same one i bought from currys
and £100 more for the larger kit0 -
Ironically I brought my D40X in Jessops, cheapest anywhere.... They don't make money on the camera's they make money on the accessories and aftersales.
So the camera was cheaper, but the memory cards were £35 when I could get the same brand 2GB card at Amazon for £8 (which I did)
Worth a look, gives you chance to get a feel for the camera too.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

You can get the 1000D with an IS lens too, just look at the options on https://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk all good suppliers will give the option.
Personally I'd just get the body and get a better lens, kit lenses are poor in general.0
