Motorola V220 texting problems
My elderly neighbour is having problems with her Motorola V220. She can't receive messages on it. Of course she can't find her manual. I have been through the phone, and I just can't get it to receive texts. It sends fine.
Has anyone had this problem? Can you please give me a solution? Going to a shop is out of the question at the mo as neither of us have cars and are a bit in the sticks.
Thanks

try going into phone settings, network selection and then changing to "Manual Network Selection" and choose another Network, it won't let you do it but when it fails go back and manually select O2 and let it connect. then change the setting back to Automatic
this may do it, otherwise you need to check the number it sends texts on under text message settingsEx forum ambassador

Text messaging
If you experience any problems when using text messaging please read the information below which may help you with resolving your query.
To send a text message from your mobile, you must have the correct message centre number stored in your mobile phone.
For customers on the Pay & Go™ Original, Pay & Go™ Talkalot, Pay & Go™ Wild and O2 Online Pay & Go™ tariffs, your message centre number is +447802092035.
For all other O2 Customers, including U, Easylife, Pay & Go™ Free Best Friend and all Pay Monthly tariffs, your message centre number is +447802000332.
Sending text messages- Press Menu on your phone and choose the 'Send Messages' or 'Messages' option.
- Type in your message using your keypad.
- Follow the on screen prompts to enter the number you want to send the message to.
- Press 'Send'.
Important Note
The ‘delivery report’ function is not supported on our network. If you’d like to receive delivery reports, you can enter *0#, followed by your text message and then send the message as you usually would.
If you are experiencing problems receiving text messages there are a few easy steps you can take to try and resolve this yourself.
1. You can clean the SIM card:
Occasionally dust and static can build up on your SIM card and prevent it from working correctly. To clean your SIM card, turn off your mobile, remove the cover and the battery. Slide out your SIM card and wipe it down with a dry lint free cloth then place it back in your mobile. Replace the battery and cover and turn your mobile back on.
2. Manual network selection:
Forcing your mobile to logon to a different network, then back to O2 refreshes your mobile's connection to the O2 network and helps push through undelivered messages. To perform a manual network selection, in the 'Network Selection' settings of your mobile select 'manual'. Your mobile will search for available networks. Select Vodafone and you will receive an error message similar to 'Connection Failed'. Repeat this again, but select O2 and you will receive a 'Success' message or something similar.
Provided there are no network faults in your area and your mobile/SIM are not faulty, any undelivered SMS will come to your mobile within a few minutes (for information on how to do this, check your user guide).
3. Insufficient memory:
If you see a flashing envelope on your mobile - your SIM card memory is full. Please delete as many messages as you can and perform a manual network selection.
Problems receiving SMS
If you see a flashing envelope on your mobile - your SIM card memory is full. Please delete as many messages as you can and try again.
If you are still not receiving text messages after this, please manually register your mobile to the Vodafone network, then register back to O2. Provided there are no network faults in your area and your mobile/SIM are not faulty, any undelivered SMS will come to your mobile within a few minutes (for information on how to do this, check your user guide).
