Mot for £27
Comments

The last time (and it will be the last time) I had my car MOT'd at a dealership (Gates Epping) they claimed that my car had a indicator light which was the wrong colour.
As at that point I had never had an indicator bulb changed and I had owned the car from new.............
Have the MOT done at somewhere that doesn't have a vested interest in finding faults.0 -
Not sure if anyone is aware but the MOT process has changed significantly. While you wont notice this it does have a significant impact on the service you receive.
The system is all now done on computer.
It means the police can track any advisorys so if you get stopped a week after passing but were advised tyres were close to failure they will not be very forgiving.
It also means that each tester and garage is monitored and time spent on MOT's is tracked as well. This means the day of the 15 minute half hearted job are over as anyone doing more than X number of MOTs a day will get flagged up.
It also records failures and therefore a high incidence of failures in an area that retailer specialised in would also flag up.
If the tester is found to have done something wrong not only does he get a warning but so does the garage. After X number of warnings they lose the right to carry out MOTs.

Thats really interesting to know but rubbish also because my garage that I did trust i'm pretty sure put advisory notes on MOTs for the sake of trying to get some work.
I took my car in earlier this year having changed the front brake pads the weekend before. The car had done 5 miles on a new set of brakes.
It passes and I get an advisory note saying I need new front brake pads and they are wearing thin.
I went absolutely ballistic at them and they could not actually come back to me with a reason as to how they missed the fact they were shiny with no brake dust on them and as thick as is possible.0 -
I did the £27 deal but they have exagerated some of the repairs which were required for a relatively new car. I asked to see some of the parts which were replaced but they were not pleased about this. Would never go there again.0
