Pollybear I lived just near Slimbridge at Dursley, it's lovely, my favourites are the Ruddy Ducks with their blue beaks!

Only saw a couple of these today.

There were quite a few ducklings/goslings etc. and the tiniest little moorhen chicks you can imagine, they looked too small to be alive!

good grief I'm all done in! I think it's the heat!!

have tidied the kitchen for the umpteenth time today! resorted to using the DW which I try not to do (dunno why, I think OH moaned about it or summit!) because i CBA to wash it all by hand.

OFF TOPIC AND OUT-OF CHARACTER RANT WARNING
The kids are getting RIGHT on my ti:eek:s today! Not sure if that's me being hot or PMT... either way..much more and I might do something prosecutable!!! 8 yr old with teenager attitude(he decided today he wants a drum kit. I told him no and he stropped about, telling me it was his "lifelong dream" to play the drums!!! since bl**dy when????), 7 yr old who crys if I say no to ANYTHING, 4 yr old who has two speeds, dead slow and stop, and a 15 months who S C R E A M S all day (he's not crying he just screams and its so loud it actually hurts my eardrums. Somedays I wear earplugs its THAT bad and I'm not joking I really do)

I feel like drop-kicking them all down the street today, or putting them out in one of those charity bags we get through the door. Or maybe selling them on eBay!!!

    RANT OVER THANK YOU

anyhoos... am all done for the day, another half hour and DS3 can [STRIKE]sod off to[/STRIKE] go to bed. Hour & 20 and the rest will be gone too. I intend to crash out on the sofa and spend the night flicking through the channels failing to find anything decent to watch!!!
I didnt crash out earlier as intended as OH beat me to it and fell asleep there too!!

    Much hugs to all

I feel like my post is naked because I havent said anything funny :(
Oh except the new bit in my signature... I'm quite pleased with that little gem :D

keep up the good work flyers....

TooChoosey - What a fab looking nappy cake! Well done you, you should be so proud of yourself! You could, if you were able to, pop down to your local florsit who may sell you a metre of the cellophane wrap for a few pence......would finish it off perfectly. (not that you dont have enough to do - sorry - I shall just create more work for you!) Its fab! I would have loved one of those!

AnW's Mum - Im sorry, that was potentially a bit thoughtless of me, but I always name my book when Im typing about it (just in case anyone wants to know.......cos I always wonder about other peoples books!) - Ive read it before and really love it. Its the only book Ive read that's made me laugh in one sentence and cry in the very next! (Or vice versa!) Im sure you will relate to lots of the book and will hopefully evoke lots of happy memories for you too! Either way a big massive squishy hug from me! Have you seen the film?

    Evening all

Just catching up on the thread, tooch /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ what she said :) that nappy cake is beautiful. If you haven't already and can wait until the weekend to give your gift then I have some cellophane and bows (I sell the bows on ebay when I get my bum in gear!) to wrap it up. The cellophane is plain but I do have some tissue paper you could put inside it. Let me know by PM if this is any use, along with your address and I''ll get some in the post to you.

And Jo it wasn't thoughtless of you at all, potentially or otherwise. I am really enjoying the book This is a double edition with 'If you could see me now' I am presuming that is the follow on book. I haven't seen the film and had no idea it had ben made into a film. I shall have to keep an eye out for it.

Oh gawd, I'll do my best. Trouble is I don't weigh - I do it by sight! But I do have a secret weapon....

Here goes - my best effort!
    • Put some butter in a saucepan (I suppose about 50g)
    • Add some whole mustard seeds (I suppose about a half a teaspoon) (the secret weapon - you can substitue it for other made up mustards if you want)
    • Add a couple of twists of fresh ground black pepper (but not salt - I don't do salt really)
    • Melt the butter gently on a low heat but don't let it brown
    • When it's all melted, add some plain flour (I suppose about half a dessert spoon full?) and mix together but don't let it bubble
    • Gently stir in some milk bit by bit until it thickens. I guess this is about 1/4 litre or so. But, if you do it bit by bit, then you'll be able to stop if it gets too runny.
    • When it's come to boiling point and is about the thickness of whipping cream, I remove it from the heat and grate and stir in some cheese. I use farmhouse mature. Again, I just grate the cheese in until it looks (and tastes!) about right but no more that, probably, 50g
    • I'll then pour it over whatever I need it for. But I also do grate a bit more cheese over the top of the dish just before I pop it in the oven.
What I'll do when I start on my dinner shortly is weigh for you and adjust as necessary! But, the mustard seeds really are the secret weapon

Rosepink - re the cheesecake, I made lemon tart for our visitor at the weekend and binned the rest. I just knew I would eat it otherwise. I finally seem to be learning some self discipline about food :o.

I hate throwing food away so when a friend had to take a raincheck on a get together I cut up the choc tort I had bought into individual slices and froze them. I just take one out when I fancy something totally indulgent.

does anyone know if rose is having a good time at parents? As I've not seen any post by her this week.
Awww, you're so sweet! I'm having a great time thanks, really unwinding and it's great spending so much time with DH
Done a HHE this morning with davina, was like torture, i was so sweaty and i couldnt find my weights so used soup cans, they ended up a little sweaty too:o Will look out my weights for tomorrow.
I've got her DVD, I feel worn out just doing the warm up! It sure makes you work doesn't it! She's good fun tho, I picked her DVD cos I knew I wouldn't get fed up watching her all the time (that sounds a bit odd but you know what I mean)

I am also a bit despondant (sp?) at the thought of not being able to achieve stars. Which is really pathetic, I know.
Now I really know how the special needs kids at school feel when they never finish/catch up with others:( I always thought I knew how it felt or at least could empathise, its worse than I thought.
Anyway, I am off to be miserable tidying my room, knowing I won't complete it:(
I know I shouldn't laugh, but this kinda made me chuckle! You don't need to feel bad about not getting stars. You just do as much as you can and maybe one day you will get one. Rome wasn't built in a day and it can be a goal for you to work toward. Really sweet of you to empathize with the kids tho, I'd never thought of that.

Boddy, how is your DD’s leg? Sounds worrying that’s it swelled up again earlier in the week (on p.16)

Lady Liberty, you are probably still away but I hope you are having a great time at Glastonbury! You rock!

Feefee, I’ve been waiting ages for Ebay to have a no fee listing day, and have just seen your post about it being today. Unfortunately I’m here and all my ebay stuff is at home! LOL! Wouldn’t you just know it!

Jo and This is it, I’m with you on the under the bed thing – I’ve been meaning to sort out under our bed for ages. It’s on my mental list to do, but I know it’s going to be scary under there! The good thing is that our bed folds up in to the wall (ala James Bond) so I won’t have to do any crawling or tunnelling!

    Welcome Prunella

Wow GnB, your size 12 trousers were huge! That’s fab! Well done!

    Dusty, how is Woody?

Gotta go, dinner's ready! I'm starving.

Now I just don't have that level of self control! It would all come out on a bad day and I would eat the lot :o.

Three steps forward, two steps back here. The DR is full of junk again because DH is home, and the horrid little monsters just decided to have a water fight in their beds. They can sleep in the mess, I am past caring . Where is the lemon tart when you need some *leaves muttering*
