Taba vs Sharm el sheikh

Looking for a 14 night holiday, at the beginning of August for me and my GF, both 25 years old.

I'm slightly put off by Taba as I get the impression that there isn't much there. I'm not looking for a crazy holiday, in fact, quite a relaxing one, but I do want some shops, restaurants, other bars, etc... I would hate to get there and be stuck in the hotel with nothing really else around.

Any one have experience of either Taba or Sharm el sheikh?

Thanks.

I went to Taba in 2005. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency. At that time there wasn't much there. We were just looking for snorkelling, beach and time to read. Also to take in a bit of archaeology. Taba is perfect for this but if you are looking for night life or bars. Don't bother. The only bars available will be at the other hotels.

I have been a couple of times to Sharm and stayed at the Iberotel Lido (only on BB, BTW they have an excellent Breakfast with showcooking overlooking the beach and the boats)
I dont really rate All Inclusive in Egypt. I liked being in the centre near Naama Bay. Really depends what you are going for. The resort centre which is Naama Bay is fantastic for shopping and nights out. You can take a stroll there during the day for a drink, a bit of shopping in the shopping centre, etc. Its perfect.
    Happy :)

Clubbing life is low key in Sharm, and it wont be crazy, its really restircted to Pasha nightclub which is away from the centre...and thats it! in naama bay they are mostly places to eat and relaxing bars that you can go to after a hard day at the beach. oh, and most shops stay open till about 9pm or later so you can have dinner and then stroll through some shops before heading back to the hotel. take a look on youtube.

There is nothing in Taba besides thehotels at least at Sharm there are a few shops and restaurants that you can browse. We have stayed in both and after a week in Taba we were feeling stifled there was not even anywhere to walk to.

Taba is very close to Eilat and you can easily got buses to the border and visit for the day

Have to agree with previous posters - Naama Bay is your best bet but be sure to establish how far your hotel is from the centre. There are hotels sprawled out from as far as the airport and you would have to get cab into Naama. You do realise how hot it will be in August??

Yea, I know it'll be about 40C in August.

It seems there is only B&B in Naama Bay. I'll keep looking though.

Do you mean the hotels are only offering B&B basis?

There are plenty of All Inclusive in Sharm el sheikh, but none in Naama bay unfortunately.

hi. we stayed in reef oasis blue bay resort.had a great holiday. numerous bars, restraunts, snack bars, pools. a large hotel/resort. 24 hour all inclusive snacks and drinks. nothing directly outside the hotel but only a 10 min cheap taxi ride into naama. plenty of taxis available either from within the hotel/resort or just outside it

Not many hotels in the centre of Naama Bay will offer All Inclusive (maybe a couple) but its really not worth it and you will probably regret it as there are some lovely bars and restaurants pretty cheap in Naama Bay.

The All Inclusive hotels are out of the way, and mainly (but probably not only) for that reason, they offer All Inclusive.

Depends how much you want to spend but the All Inclusive programme at the Savoy Sharm is pretty good.....

Fantazia, Royal Plaza and Tropitel offer All Inclusive in Naama Bay.
    Happy :)
