Scammed by Amazon seller

Options
First time it has happened and I don't know why I thought amazon as a marketplace would be immune to fraud.

I bought an IXUS camera from a new seller on the 2nd of June and paid using some of my amazon vouchers and the rest on my CC. Delivery estimate was between the 5th-17th of June. Item did not show up, popped on to the site to send email to seller and check his 'store' out. It no longer exists. Checked feedback and 3 other buyers have been scammed too going by the comments.

I have now filed a claim with Amazon (first time ever) and will hope it gets resolved without too much stress.

As I said, I never expected it on amazon but it seems it happens everywhere and not just limited to gumtree & ebay!

Play are another one, they have a market place

Personally I wouldn't touch any market place sellers for that reason

If the seller was a trader, and you paid by credit card you may be able to claim back if its over £100

Amazon should refund you I think. I ordered a game from Amazon marketplace a while ago, they sent me a copy, not even in a proper case or anything. I reported it to Amazon and they refunded me.

I only ever order stuff that is supplied by amazon or their indigo starfish sellers. Usually whatever you want is sold by a 'proper' internet shop if you bother to look for it.

Not sure that this applies. Section 75 only applies if a third party (Amazon) are not involved
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

An Amazon A-Z claim will get you your money back.

It's a bit much to avoid all marketplace sellers for fear of being ripped off. A company with thousands (tens of thousands in some cases) of positive feedbacks don't get that by treating customers badly. Even the best shops in the world occasionally have problems but a good shop/seller will be happy to resolve any problem.

If there is 3 feedbacks showing this seller has had problems out of the last ten feedback left then somethings going on - if it's 3 neg feedback out of 5000 then it may just be unfortunate coincidence. I'm not sure but if the seller is still listed and you can see feedback then you perhaps they are just not selling anything at the moment or maybe Amazon suspended them because of poor perfromance - either way if you can see feedback you should be able to email them?

If you buy on Amazon then avoid marketplace sellers with few feedbacks if you are wary but in the case of the OP I'm sure that Amazon will refund under the A-Z Guarantee.

go for a chargeback on your cc [this is different and easier than a section 75]

Could someone post how you filter out market place sellers from the Amazon search facility?
This can be a useful tool but I've forgotten how to do it.
    Thanks.

I didn't know you could do this! I would also love to know.

I ordered something from a marketplace seller and it was delivered promptly and it was perfect - was very happy. They had 11,000+ feedback tho :)
    I love surprises!
