i understand - when i moved here i knew no one and my oh used to work nights that started at 6pm and weekends too
i have made good friends at night school, done a few differant things over the years history, upholstery and creative writing. give it a go you never know it might work and at least it will get you out of the house for a bit'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -
A gym is not necessarily a good place to meet people. Well it may be for some people, but I never speak to anyone other than a hello ~maybe I'm just anti-social?

Some kind of evening class might be better for you? Your daughter is old enough to be left so that's not a problem & you could do anything from salsa to GCSEs to car maintenance~endless possibilities.
The other thing is a voluntary job for a few hours a week, even something like school governor or Brownie leader.
Please don't turn to drink, it will only make you feel worse. Forget about the ex, move on with your life.0 -

Evening classes don't just have to be of a night though, does that sound irish ?
What i mean i've done classes in our local librabry for trace your family tree and local history, they were both free and we even got tea and biscuits thrown in, see does your do anything,
I think the gym may sometimes not be the place to meet people, if you are exercising hard, but for the average person, taking it easy on the treadmill, it's natural to chat to the person next to you. And if you're always there at the same time, you do get to know others.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Hi how about striking up a conversation with one of the parents that your daughter stays at. It could be as simple as phoning to see if your daughter is okay. You could ask them if they would like to drop in for a cup of tea and natter. Schools are always looking for help. Junior schools like people to help out with reading/ days out.
On the subject of your partner , he sounds immature and selfish. Dont let him destroy you. Knock the drinking on the head.0 -
