good luck with it. Maybe it could be a new career. Running a holiday club in your area. Sounds like one is needed!! Only 3 weeks and it'll all be over! till the next time

I have a number to phone tomorrow to see if there is, if not a mates house is my only option. The older two do not have a mobile phone, but they do have a BT phone card for the telephone boxes. It's situations like this that makes me wonder if i should allow my 13 year old to have a mobile just for these occasions. I do have a spare one which would need to be topped up  but it frightens me kids having mobiles
I think I'd be tempted to top your spare mobile up on this occassion. I'm on my work placement this week and DH who was supossed to be having 2 days off to help with eldest has informed me he know has to attend a meeting. Luckily my MIL has stepped in, or it would be costing me an extra day in childcare fees.

I leave my 13 year old by herself for a couple of hours after school sometimes or in the evenings. Occaisionally I will leave her for a working day ( I am out 8.15 -4pm). However I check there are friends of mine who could go to her quickly if needed. I also work just a ten minute drive away and can pop home if needed. I am lucky that I have school holidays, so am generally around when she is. I don't let her have friends in when I am not at home, as I feel a responsibility if they are in my house.

Should add perhaps that she is nearly 14. It is only the last month I have felt ok about leaving her in day or evenings. I think the most important thing is knowing the maturity of your own child and having supports there for them if needed.

I know what you mean, i'm sure his mates mum would say yes as i would return the favour, it would save me money as well. I'll give the oldest my spare mobile and keep my phone with me, i'd want to know when they arrive there and when they leave, so that by the time i finish work, i can meet them on their bus.

The other thing is, when i tried to cancel the appointment for a different day, they said they havn't no more appointments in the holidays, even the summer ones are booked  but how comes when they have had their appointment, they will get another 8 week appointment just like that

I wish now their dentist had refered them to a nearer Orthodontics  Is it too late to change it now their treatment has started  I had asked for their future appointments to be made in the school holidays, but they said no for NHS

My dilemma is that on Friday my two oldest 13 and 12 have to go to their Orthodontics appointment on their own which is about an hours bus ride, i'm not happy about this but their treatment would be put on hold if they don't and i have yet to find somewhere for my 8 year old to go as i won't let the older two take my youngest with them.

Are under sixteens 'allowed' to go to appointments alone?

My daughter will be 16 in september and my son is 9. I leave them together for 2 hours maximum and only very occasionally. They get on fine and the eldest doesnt mind atall but I don't like doing it as I don't feel she should have that responsibility. I didn't leave her alone until she was 14 and even now I won't leave her home alone when it's dark. We had an incident a few months ago where a drunken man came banging on the door late one afternoon, absolutely adament that someone he had a gripe with lived in our house. I had to phone the police because he was trying to kick the door in. It was terrifying and something I would never ever imagine happening to us. Just goes to show ANYTHING can happen when we least expect it.

    It's so hard

I asked, but the person who does the braces only works up to 12pm

I think i'll ask my dentist if i can change their orthodontics to a nearer one  I'm not sure if i can now the treatment has started, but it's worth asking.
