My friends get similar problems in my house, some of different phones, some on different networks.
Ive come to the conclusion that it tries to stick to the weak 3G signal rather than switching to the strongest signal available.
To fix it, I go into the connections menu, select "mobile networks", "select network" and switch over to the non 3G signal (without all the little symbols)..... I then get full signal again until it tries to switch back automatically some time later.
The above would also stop you having to turn it on/off all the time.
If your not on Three you can force your phone to run in 2g mode all the time, unless you run hsdpa a lot outside its probably the best thing to do.0 -

eg im on vodaphone but at home my mobile always tunes into an 02 network
another 02 phone in the house tunes into 3
i dont know why but they just do
the actual vodaphone default signal is very weak and nearly non existant
so for starters, assuming your mobile layout is similar to my se, go to the menu, then settings, then go to connectivity(this may be in a tab at the top or as a separate option), then go to mobile networks and then select network
test out all the available network signals and see how strong they are as the mobiles dont always pick the best network
you may be able to make it a default
as for the turning it on and off
have you updated the phone on your computer? it may help
What on earth are you talking about? Where to start. If you have a Vodafone SIM you phone won't "tune in" to o2. Nor will the phone on o2 "tune in" to 3.0 -

ok well i used the phrase tuned in as it seems to be a more understandable simple was to explain it and what i meant is that in my house i cannot pick a vodaphone signal so instead my phone shows itself in the connectivity screen as on 02
its been unlocked so i dont know if that makes a difference tbh
but yeh as i said it shows as connected to 02 and i can sit there and change it if i wish
just like when you go abroad your phone automatically chooses a carrier for you
so i was merely suggesting that the op look at the screen and see if they can change what particular signal the phone was usingBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
well thanks everyone for your help
i have run the updated software and if nothing else messenger now works on my phone where it didn't before :j
thanks again
