hi there
i am having problems finding a mobile that receives a decent signal from 3
my partner has a nokia n95 and he is on 3 and always has full signal at my house
without getting one of these or spending a fortune i want a phone that gets good signal
i have been told it is to do with the aerial used in the phone but don't know if this is true or not
i have a sony ericsson z750i
lovely phone but very bulky and i have to turn it on and off again several times a day as it just seems to tune out of the network. i bought it refurbished from 3 and wish i had never bothered.
so can anyone tell me what i need to look for in a phone so that my partner can phone me and my phone will actually ring ??? !!!
many thanks in advance,
louise

ok well for starters mobiles aways tune into different network signals
eg im on vodaphone but at home my mobile always tunes into an 02 network
another 02 phone in the house tunes into 3
i dont know why but they just do
the actual vodaphone default signal is very weak and nearly non existant
so for starters, assuming your mobile layout is similar to my se, go to the menu, then settings, then go to connectivity(this may be in a tab at the top or as a separate option), then go to mobile networks and then select network
test out all the available network signals and see how strong they are as the mobiles dont always pick the best network
you may be able to make it a default
as for the turning it on and off
have you updated the phone on your computer? it may helpBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I have similar issues with my se K800, it has either no or intermittent signal as soon as I step into my house. Sometimes it even appears to be full, but as soon as I make a call it dies!!
My friends get similar problems in my house, some of different phones, some on different networks.
Ive come to the conclusion that it tries to stick to the weak 3G signal rather than switching to the strongest signal available.
To fix it, I go into the connections menu, select "mobile networks", "select network" and switch over to the non 3G signal (without all the little symbols)..... I then get full signal again until it tries to switch back automatically some time later.
The above would also stop you having to turn it on/off all the time.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

My Samsung is on O2, but signal strength would vary greatly from one room to another. This (amongst other things) was cured by updating the firmware. Maybe a similar process on your phone would help?Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0

go on to the sony ericsson website and find your phone and download its update manager
at run that
it will tell you how to update
just make sure you save all your contacts and any important messages to sim and any important files to a memory card as you will lose all the data off the phoneBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
thankyou i'm off to try that now :j0

Iv a s/e c902 on Orange and the reception can be terrible, one min i will have full strength and without even moving the signal will disappear to nothing then it will come back after a couple of min. I updated the software and to be honest it made it worse. I did read somewhere that this is a common fault with this phone tho.0
