Know what you mean about the calls. Not had a call from a creditor for 9 months now and I'm tempted to ring them to ask them why they've not rung me after all the 100 calls a month they all gave me at the begininng and even on my birthday. They didn't even ring me on my birthday this year...!
I've been on my dmp since January last year and my phone has been quiet for a long time now so it does happen - just have to ride the storm.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hope you don't mind me posting on this thread but I'm just starting out on my dmp journey with payplan.
I had my telephone interview this week and they have sent me the letter which I need to sign to get the ball rolling.
Now, my question is that I am off on holiday next week - should I sign the letter and post it now do you think or should I hold off til after my holiday? Its just that I'm not going to have time to set up a new bank account before I go away.. what would you do?
Thanks xLB Moment - 15/06/2009

Well for me, I get paid today and Ive paid the Natwest my monthly loan so I would have a few weeks to sort it out I think.
I suppose if you bank with someone who is going on the plan, then it would depend if you intend to pay them their monthly repayment this month.
Otherwise I would do it as soon as possible.
There is probably someone with more experience than me who can answer this better:o.
Btw I set an account up with the Halifax online and that seems to be going through pretty quickly. Just waiting for an online password and welcome pack. They have sent me my online user name already
Glad someone else is starting the same time as me:T0 -
I'm not going to have time to sort anything out for the start of this month so will pay Lloyds my loan amount for this month as my account is with Lloyds too
I applied for an account with Barclays but haven't heard anything yet (only applied on Tuesday!)
Good luck with your DMP.. it all feels very scary and daunting at the moment doesn't it but I know I'm doing the right thing, I couldn't go on with my head buried in the sand, living off credit cards
These boards have been a life saver so far.
Good luck

Thanks, you too, Im positive its will be the best thing we ever did.
As I said earlier in the thread I had preconceived ideas about them, but reading a lot of threads on here gave me the inspiration.
4 years to clear it all and there I was a few weeks ago trying to sort loans out to pay it all off and that would be over 5 years. I think I will be better off each month doing it this way anyway.
Feel 1000x better already. Only thing is Im kicking myself I never did it years ago:rotfl:0 -
Yeah, I feel better about it all too. The only thing that scares me is that my creditors may not accept the terms and freeze the interest. Also that they could threaten court action etc.. that terrifies me.
I'll try and think positive though :rolleyes:LB Moment - 15/06/2009

Just thought I'd add a further positive note to this thread. I have recently set up a DMP with Payplan (2nd monthly payment tomorrow) and everything seems to be going very smoothly at the moment!
I have had a few letters from creditors agreeing to the reduced payments offered already and the only time my phone has rung in the past month is when someone is trying to sell me a conservatory..annoying when you live in a first floor flat!
At the moment going with Payplan seems to be the best thing Ive done in a long time.
I hope your DMP's both go smoothly as well!!0 -

Lots of positivity going on in this thread! It has put a smile on my face I can tell you! Payplan are definitely non-judgemental.
To all of those who may miss those horrid, wicked, non human calls especially those ones to make your days complete hell, here is a thought....
The computer generates your primary telephone number from a list of debtors the creditors call. When you answer there is nearly always a pause and thats when the shocking, embarrassment of a customer services advisor or stalker as they are sometimes calls knows that the company has rang you. They simply wait for some poor, cowering debt ridden person to answer, then they talk, probably happy just to talk to someone. Good advice is when you hear the pause when you first pick up the call simply put it down and then it dials the next number in its sequence. You may have a break in the amount of times they call.
I am sorry to tell you all, they dont call you because its you, so dont feel bad or lonely when you dont get them, feel proud because you are no longer just a sequence in a very long list of other debtors to that company..... and thats because you are PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH YOUR DEBTS ....
Now hasnt that made you all feel great ??
