Are we the only couple who can't afford a holiday?

Another thing that annoys me is the snobbery some people show around holidays, I reguarly hear "Oh if I couldn't go on holiday i'd crack up" Well I doubt at that rate I am overdue a visit to the funny farm. Or there are others who just look down there nose at you because you haven't been anywhere, I have a work mate who goes on holiday at least 3 times a year and its not your little cheap teletext holidays, for example this year he has been on a med cruise and jets of to Egpyt at the weekend for 2 weeks, he seems to think because he goes all these places he is somewhat superior, Infact in the 3 years I have worked there he has never much as said hello to me. We will see how superior he is when he's in his 40's with young children, Mine will be grew up and hopefully flew the nest or at least be contributing to it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I get so jealous of everyone around me when they talk about holidays! i know people that go on a few a year! I wish I could. The last (and only) big holiday we went on was our honeymoon 3 years ago. and that was paid for by wedding gifts. no way we could afford that ourselves.
We did end up going to Cornwall this year for 5 days! It was lovely. It was at a 5star resort/hotel and was one of these sales pitch things (Club la costa)! £58 for 4 nights for the two of us, i couldn't resist!
however i came back feeling awful coz even with that bargain we ended up spending too much on food and enjoying ourselves and were then skint for the rest of the month! had to go running to my dad for a loan !!!!!!! Won't be having another one for a long while i think! Can't go through that trauma again!
I definitely think some people prioritse holidays a lot higher than others!! Altho i do want holidays in future for now I'm happy with a week at home with the hubby! (Lucky really tho as that's all I'm gonna get!

Holidays always tend to end in some kind of distaster and/or time in hospital! The last time we went on holiday, we had a motorbike crash, so my BF spent a month in hospital and I spent a month in a caravan with his parents. A whole lot of no fun, and it cost me a fortune too. As a result, am now phobic about motorbikes, caravans and turning right in any kind of vehicle. Oops! And as we still have no other transport except the motorbike, going anywhere is kind of challenging. And I have no money. So I take holiday time to stay off work and catch up with my massively busy schedule of sleeping and baking cakes, luckily I enjoy that.
I just get annoyed with people who think that holidays are their raight rather than a privelege. I know someone who has got herself and her husband into about £60k worth of debt and lost him his job. Instead of getting a job to help pay off what she'd spent, she decided to get pregnant again (yep, deliberately) and rely on her parents to pay off a lot of debt. And she still expects a holiday at least once a year, which her husband & parents pay for. I just think it's selfish. And a bit mental.:rolleyes:0 -
To those singles that keep posting that they cannot afford a holiday because they are single...come on you got to be kidding?!.. All of your money is yours, it makes me laugh reading about single people complaining about money.
Try being the only person that earns the bread and having a wife and young daughter. If you think you are struggling now, god help you when you get into a relationship and have a little one.

I don't have debts, it's just that when you're single the cost of living is so high there's nothing left over to waste on luxuries ... when you might need the money a month later to fix a boiler or something.
I’ve been single for 4 years and until a month ago, I hadn’t had a holiday in 4 years.
I went with my friend last month.
But she’s married, so that won’t be a regular thing as she goes away with her husband.
I need to bite the bullet and go alone or pay for my daughter and 2 grandchildren to come along.
I’ve priced it, it’s a good 3K & that’s during school time (they are young so missing school wouldn’t be the end of the world).0 -

What a nasty post from someone who has just joined, on a thread that is nine and a half years old. What is the point. There is a venting forum if you want to have a moan.
ilonaI love skip diving.
