Well yes.... and no. It depends on the type of strawberry you have.When they are red, they are ripe. If you are in any doubt next time you go to the supermarket have a look at the strawberries... they should look the same (although the size might vary). They should be firm to the touch, if they are squishy, they are overripe. Pick and eat same day.
Some of mine I pick when they are red, or even not completely red, but a little what looks like under ripe and they are perfect.
Some of my others I have to leave until they look almost gone over, otherwise they aren't sweet enough. It's like all soft fruit, you have to find the right time for you and for that particular plant, to pick them.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
