Warning lights on hot water tank

The bloomin' red light came on again last night. The plumber that came really didn't know much at all about the anti corrosion system, so couldn't comment. I still can't believe I need a new water cylinder after 4 years!0

It could be that the unit contains a sacrificial anode many ariston units do and that this needs replacing0
-
well that doesn't sound too bad!
Can you come and do it please0 -
I know this is an old thread, but i have the same ariston system and my light has come on. What did you do to fix yours?
thanks0 -
it's still on! I've just left it now, I had so many blooming plumbers and electricians from the Warm Front thing doing whatever they thought was necessary to my system, but not one of them had a clue what to do with the anti corrosion system, so they did nowt..... i've given up asking now. Sorry I can't be of any help, but if you do get it fixed, let me know? Thanks0

My neighbours one has been red for as long as he can remember , so far he hasn't had any problems0

There a manual for the Ariston unvented cylinders on the web, which includes troubleshooting for the corrosion control warning lights.
http://www.ariston.co.uk/uploads/doc4ac4ac5b7dc27.pdf
Looking at the diagrams, dripping through the tundish indicates that the overpressure value has opened and is probably a bad thing.
Presumably if the corrosion control has failed, as indicated by the red light, then your the cylinder will be slowly rusting away.0 -
It's a nightmare. I have been in touch with two plumbers , who fix these systems. Neither have got back to me .
Thank you for your link.0 -
Hi,
I also have an Ariston Contract Protech Boiler which has had both the Red and Green lights on for as long as I can remember.
We have lived in our flat for almost 3 years and were told that this boiler was fitted only a few months before we moved in.
A few weeks back we had a plumber come round to service the boiler an d he stated that it was damaged beyond repair. We have been quoted £1300 for a new boiler.
It is now no longer producing any hot water.
How can this be the case with a unit that is less than 4 years old???!!!
Does anyone know how to remedy this without purchasing an entirely new unit?
Thanks in advance.0
