Warning lights on hot water tank

Wonder if anyone can help me here....

4 year old house, Ariston hot water tank with Protech Anti Corrosion fitted. Two lights have come on, they may have been on for some time, I don't know. One is red and has a triangle with an exclamation mark, the other is green with the eletrical flash symbol.

I can't find any instruction book and I am not covered by any maintenance plan. Can't seem to find much information online and don't know if I need to call a plumber immediately etc..?

Thanks for reading.

just to add, this is a system that requires manual topping up of the pressure, which I do occasionally, my turning a switch until the black and red hands come together on the pressure gauge.

Good afternoon: You have an unvented cylinder. Find a manual here.
When was it last serviced ?

    thanks for that.
About 10 months after the house was built, the pressure went down to zero as I hadn't been told I needed to top it up myself, so the builders sent out their plumber, who refilled the system.
It hasn't been looked at since then. To be honest, I wasn't aware that such new systems needed to be serviced, daft I know :(

Who should I call? A local plumber?

    Thanks

Hi...you need a plumber with 'G3' certification for unvented cylinders....find one here or here.

    Thanks :)

Any idea what sort of price this is going to cost me?

Hi...no idea;) Total cost will reflect labour charges in your neck of the woods and parts/time required for the repair. The cylinder would still be under Ariston's guarantee if the installation was registered and had been serviced annually (for the tank 5,10 or 25 years depending on model, 2 years for electrical components). If the worse case scenario arises, don't replace it with another Ariston.

If the house is only four years old, speak to the builder as it may be covered under the NHBC warranty. You should not need to repressure its every few weeks/months, this points to another issue.

hi, well I managed to get a plumber round under my 'home emergency' cover with my house insurance, he reckons some stat thing (whatever that is) is corroded away and the temperature of the water was way too high, he phoned his boss and he said I would need a new tank and quoted me £1300!

By turning the thermostat for the water down, the red light miraculously went off, but the plumber couldn't understand that, as the warning light is on the anti corrosion system.

There is still a drip going into the tundish thing, but at least the warning light is off.

I'm going to keep an eye on it for a while, before I even start thinking of shelling out that kind of money on a 4 year old tank!

    Cheers

If its needs replacing then dont waste any further cash with a Ariston unit. Either a santon or megaflow unvented water heater are considered the best on the market

The drip from the safety valve is either from pressure or temperature relief valve, Probably caused by the valve lifting and not re-seating. I would get a 2nd opinion before you carry out any further works
