  • By the way, T in the Park tickets are not sent out til the week before the festival usually. This is far too early for them to be sent out.

    I'm confused now. :(

Thats just bizarre. If it was Pizza Hut junk mail surely it comes with the postage pre printed on the envelope? Didn't the Post Office show you the envelope before you paid for it, they do at mine and you do not have to accept the mail. You could have said no but then I suppose the hassle of getting a taxi. Couldn't you have asked for the thing to be reposted to you and said you would pay the excess at the door to the postie? Then you could have told the postie at the door, no I'm not paying for junk mail and you wouldn't have had to pay for a taxi.

All I was saying is that you have a choice to accept the mail or not if it has been underpaid on postage. I've done it when its something I do not recognise, I certainly would have had a look at the envelope before I paid for it.
I am NOT expecting the posties/RM to do their job for free.

My sorting office is very helpful, I'm down there every day to collect my DH mail for his business from his PO Box. Sometimes they haven't charged me for underpaid postage, usually as the post is in a huge bundle and they haven't noticed it. They've even asked if I want the PO box mail delivered to my door, which normally costs extra I think, for no charge but I am out and about everyday anyway and its not much of a detour.

A large business sending out mailshots to customers (like Pizza Hut) should be paying the correct postage and not leaving it up to the customer to pay it, thats just extremely cheeky. Not everyone can get to the Sorting Office so easily, I'm lucky as mine isn't far away.

the Op thought it was festival tickets they were collecting which is why they went to the effort of a taxi to the SO, just explaining they aren't due to be posted out for a few weeks yet thats all.

I was expecting Dsiney tickets. They arrived later that same day by ordinary post.

The reason the queue was so long at the sorting office was because it was collection time for T in the Park tickets.

fwiw we didn't get our tickets until the morning before last year for T in the Park but the woman in front of me in the queue was definitely collecting Titp tickets. Was moaning she needed I.D. for them and had to rejion the queue.

Anyway - to cut a long story short I came to post an update-

Pizza Hut sent us a letter with a cheque to for £20 to cover taxi fares, and a code for £15 off pizza. Apparently it is now another company who deal with this sort of mail and a whole batch went out without being franked...

so Well Done Pizza Hut for doing the right thing and getting in touch to compensate.

I'm glad, cos I do honestly prefer Pizza Hut to Domino's.

My postmen are not allowed to accept cash and you HAVE to go to the sorting office to collect underpaid mail. I was told its because money has been going astray and the posties are not trusted!!!

lol,i think you will find it saves any queries over money
taking money at the door would bea nightmare and TBH posties just dont have time
its a nice simple system where you know nobody working for RM should be asking for cash in any form at the door
  • Brilliant result :) I'm impressed!
