Talk Talk... .

I have a Talk Talk phone line and am wanting to get broadband. In my area they only appear to offer it for £15 a month (plus a £30 connection fee) instead of the usual £6.50. I've looked through the broadband article on Martin's site and my options appear to be very limited if I keep the Talk Talk phone line (every other broadband option seems to necessitate a BT line!). Does anyone know of any options...? Thank you... .

  • Hi David, I am uncertain as to what your options are here. But if you have the option of leaving TalkTalk without penalty do so at your earliest opportunity. In the long run you'll be thankful.

I am on a bit of a negative streak here as they are trying to fleece me for leaving after 2.5+ years, but, I would warn you I found the service terrible, took 3 month to set up, was intermittent all the time for the first year and still isn't brilliant at the moment. Had much trouble with online poker connection dropping which was attributible to the talk talk line.

If you can avoid it, do so now!

They've been okay with me once the phone line was set up. Phone calls are pretty cheap as well, especially when I call other Talk Talk lines, so I think I'm stuck with them for the moment. Just need to find a way to make broadband work... .

Click on this link and then scroll down to "already with TALKTALK" at the bootom left.

It seems you can change your package to TT Essentials package at
£17-74 a month (which is what I`m on).

For £17-74 a month you will get, line rental included, "up to 8megs" Broadband, free evenings and weekends phone calls, free local calls ANYTIME,free 0870 & 0845 numbers within your calling package.
You can also ADD various "boosts" at extra cost to suit your needs.

Stick with TalkTalk and get the best BB & Phone deal going.

I have been with them for 15 months and can`t fault anything and paying half the cost a month than I was previously with BT and another ISP.

i have just renewed my contract for 18mths.
they rang and said my 18mths was up,did i want to take out another,i said ring back next week,so i could compare, they came out cheapest,bb line rental calls.
The chap asked if i wanted a wireless router for half price as a loyalty bonus,i says no,so he says half price calls for 3 mths,i said cant you do better,he asked manager, and came back with 6 mths half price calls.
    well happy:j

My 18 month contract will be up in Oct. and I will continue on a monthly basis.

They`ve offered you half price calls for six months but your calls are free in your package,so how does it work?

In their terms and conditions it says "If your home cannot be connected to the broadband service supplied with this [Essentials] package, you may still be able to get an alternative broadband service from TalkTalk at £15 extra per month."

    I think it's this that they're offering me... .

Yeah ... I've always found them helpful and I've never had any problems with TalkTalk Broadband - I don't think there is a Broadband provider that doesn't have problems now and again anyway. In the past I've gone for dead cheap options and only got crap service.

Local calls are now free ANYTIME and 0870 & 0845 are free evenings and weekends,so basically you`re getting half price "long distance" calls weekdays for 6 months.
