It's all SAE rated.
It's all the same old stuff in different packs.

Good point Brooker Dave.
You would say you only get what you pay for, but is there any differance in cheap and exspensive oil (synthetic).0 -
SAE usually only relates to the viscocity.
The ratings e.g. API. CC, SE etc. are the things to look for. If the oil is the same rating and viscocity as recommended by the manufacturer then it will work. However, I would personally change a cheaper oil (and filter) more often.
For an older, high mileage car then "cheap" oil is maybe o.k. but I never risk it. I believe it's a false economy though.
It's not all the same stuff in different packs either.0 -

I don't see the problem here. If it's the right grade of oil for your car and you only plan to keep it for the warranty period then the "cheap oils" are perfectly acceptable. If you run your car for longer then switch to a premium oil.The man without a signature.0

You may find the warranty void if you don't use oil that meets the manufacturer's specification.
That doesn't just mean the viscosity is correct."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I apologise for publicising the fact that a quality oil that meets manufacturers specs is being sold at half normal price. I thought this was a money saving site0
