The only other ones I can think of, for your list are:
    o HMRC
    o Schools (if applicable)
o Airlines for frequent flyer points
    o Any share registries
    o Electoral roll
    o Any magazine subscriptions
    o Library
o Membership of any trade organisations

And don't forget to take note of the electric/gas meter readings when you move in.

    Good luck moving!

Thanks for those. I've actually got the electoral roll on one of my other lists ('Things to do before we move' - get registered on electoral role, find cheapest energy supplier, buy catflap lol).

I don't think any of the others are applicable to us - although, HMRC, why would we need to notify them? We have never done that before when we have moved, perhaps we should have done though ?

You've lost me there. Why would I want my cats traipsing butter all round our new house?
    :rotfl:
apparently if you put butter on your cats paws it encourages them to lick their paws thus getting the scent of their new surroundings quicker so more likely to find their way back and not get lost

Never heard that one before! Hmm, I think I may be giving that a mess, as even though we'll be keeping them in one room for a few days to start with, I definitely don't want butter all over the floor in there! Plus both of my cats are really scaredys and I think it might just spook them even more if we did that.

Lol just re-read my post and I meant 'miss' not 'mess'. Quite appropriate though!

you dont need to inform the passport office you've changed address, they dont store your address offically.

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure, as I know your address isn't actually printed on the passport but I wouldn't want to be stuck as hoping to get a holiday booked soon after the move.

Dont forget to book the Gas fitter to connect your cooker (if necessary), take spare batteries for the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors - or take new detectors as necessary.

If there are no instructions for the burglar alarm - get one printed off before you go.

Thanks Benjo. The kitchen in the new place will all be staying, so thankfully don't need to worry about that.

Spare batteries is a good idea. Our current smoke detectors are wired into the mains so I wouldn't have even thought about it, but I'll definitely add those to the list.

Burglar alarm instructions also a good one. Although we've never had the instructions for the alarm on our current house, so been unable to change the code from what was set when we moved in (not ideal I know, but I did look on the internet and couldn't find the manual). I'll see if I can find out in advance about the alarm in the new house.
