Best deal I can find on the new Nokia N97

Hi,
Although everyone's talking about the iPhone today I'm more inclined to go for the Nokia N97 (as a long time Nokia user) and I wondered if anyone's seen a better contract deal than this. It's free on a 12 month contract on Vodafone, 600 minutes, unlimited text messages and unlimited internet per month for £45 a month. It's on the Mobile Express website but it's fairly well hidden (maybe because it's so good?). I went to the N97, searched for Vodafone 12 months and it was quite far down the page.

Hi
I've just seen some good deals on it on mobilephonedirect, a Vodafone specialist. Available on either Vodafone or T Mobile for about £35 - £40 a month.0 -
Thanks - had a look but I can't see any 12 month deals on there.0
-
No, you're right - I was looking at 18 months, just didn't read your post properly.0

Exactly what i was doing at the time of reading your post, and funny enough i have come to the same conclusion.........
roughly £555 total cost
plus £40 quidco cashback
plus about a £100 trade in for my old Nokia N95
and only a 12 month contract. Sounds good to me......anyone got any arguments / views? One by one the penguins steal my sanity.0 -
Hmmmm, think ive just found an issue......no number portability to Vodafone. Damn!!!One by one the penguins steal my sanity.0

Just in case it may help anyone....this is what I've plumped for.......
N97 Black 32 GIG on T mobile combi 30 plus web n walk.
So...12 month contract @ £34.26 per month which includes 300 xnet minutes plus 200 txts. (I know, I know, not a huge amount but enough for me)
plus £103.99 + £3.99 next day delivery) for the phone
Total ownership price of £519.10 for 12 months
Plus I can get £100 cheque from Mazuma mobile for my old N95.
i thought this was a decent deal for me....as I didnt want to be tied into a longer contract and really wanted to try the N97 instead of the I-phone.
Comments welcome...

Read Stephen Fry's iPhone / N97 reviews here before you make up your mind..

Interesting read, and as much as i like the man himself the review seems a little....well....er (and i know this is gonna get me into trouble) biased?
He mentions the slidey out keyboard is the best he's evenr come across. full stop, but then goes on to applaud how wondrous the i-phones new MMS facility is (LOL, which has been on every other phone since before god was alive. I could go on....but wont :-)
I've committed to the new N97 now for 12 months (barring my 14 day right to cancel of course), and as its only a 12 month contract I'm gonna stick with it. When it arrives, and I've played, ill get right back to you all!!!! Watch this space.
