PVR suggestions please

I need to set up a simple recording system for my technophobe (User Manual, what's that for?) sister-in-law and am looking for some suggestions for the PVR based on:
She is in Spain and, although she speaks the language and has Spanish terrestrial TV, does not need to record terrestrial broadcasts.
In the past, I have connected her Sky STB/VCR/TV/DVD player up for her and typed out an "Idiots' Guide" sheet on how to program her VCR - only to find she still could not set up to record off her Sky STB (even though I set up for the VCR to record via scart or RF in case she selected the wrong channel). In any case, the VCR expired after her numerous cats decided what nice litter trays VHS tapes were!
So, I'm now considering a hard drive PVR which does not need to have any built-in tuner because it will only ever be used to record/play back Sky broadcasts.
I can find numerous Freeview PVRs on the market but their functionality is excessive (many have 2 digital tuners although she needs none) so was wondering whether anyone could suggest a hard drive (160Gb+) PVR without a tuner which can be programmed by a technophobe?

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Whatever you do, don't use the boxes that the carriers give you for free - they are always rigged to force you to watch through commercials and make it difficult to navigate to what you want!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
