A claims company will do nothing for you as you already have a final response. You need to decide whether to take it to the FOS or not.

The FOS will look at your evidence and the evidence from the company and decide if the ruling is fair or not based on that evidence.

Have you done a SAR letter - was the conversation recorded? Did you receive the tape of the conversation?

It seems a pretty poor final response.

There are other factors that could lead to the PPI being missold. There are some very helpful information leaflets on PPI on the Financial Ombudsman website. If you can wait 6 months or so probably an idea to go to the omudsman. No guarantee of success but they will consider a host of things - including instructions given by the bank to its employees on selling PPI to customers.

Be careful about using claim companies and if you do read the small print very very carefully.

Once they have issued a final response they are unlikely to change their decision so your best option is going to the FOS

No. It just means that they acknowledge your complaint and will pass it to an adjudicator to look at. All its done is pass the stage whether it is a complaint they can look at or not (e.g. is the firm FSA authorised and its within their remit).

Dont read anything in to that.
