Hello people. My son's birthday is coming soon and he want's a Samsung D500 or Samsung D600. I've no experiences with contract phones but, He has a 02 genie card and well 300 text msgs would do him. He doesn't ring unless he just want's to be picked up from somewhere. Does anyone know any cheap contract phones? Less than £20 a month?
Thanks alot.
Geraldine.

Hi.I would go for tmobile's flext 20 tariff. For £15 per month you get £34.00 of value to use up as minutes, texts or a mixture of both.(e.g 300 texts and 20 minutes calls per month). The only draw back is that it is an 18 month contract and the samsung d600 would cost you £29.99.But at £15 per month it has to be best value at the moment.........Neil0

So, It's £15 a month, but I pay £29.99 for the actualy phone. Also, Can you not get this in 12 months?0

Anyone help? I've found a D500 for £129.99 PAYG!0

Why on earth would you give a teenager a £300 mobile phone.
Encourage him to save by buying him a basic pAYG mobile (say £20 from ebay)and save in an ISA
Contract phones are bad news in general - but especially for kids not paying the bill0 -
Because, It's his birthday and I want to treat him. Since, I'm nice. I'll think I'll go with the £129.99 O2 D500! It's cheapest i've found and, It's one of the one's he wanted. So, Hey.
Thanks for your help guys!0 -
I am sorry - but a treat is ... a curry ..£10... a DVD ....£15.....a footie match £35..all the Harry Potter books £60,
This fancy phone will give him no more value than a cheap phone esp if all he does is ring for a lift.
The values of this site are about moneysaving - buying what you need - he could have 1/10th of his isa allowance - for the price of an overpriced phone0 -
Your actually right. That's actually got me thinking. I'll take him to a footie match instead, maybe a DVD or 2 too.
Thanks mdean!0 -

Yes. Got to get some tickets booked. Don't I?0

The phone's value isn't even £300 - they just bump up the prices on new phonesto make contracts look better. Within a year it will be down to £150.
The phone doesn't get twice as good for double the money.0
