Perhaps YOU should engage Google before typing !
Could I refer you to the HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs - to save you Googling !) web site:_
"The EU Countries are: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus*, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, The Irish Republic, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (but not the Canary Islands), Sweden, The UK (but not the Channel Islands)."
The Canaries are in a strange political position - just like the Channel Islands, which is why you can still get "duty free" there and not in the rest of the EU.
Your comments about residency are quite correct but threw no light on the original question, which boils down to - does the EU legislation regarding air travel delays apply in the Canaries ?
I don't know the answer, but I hoped I made a useful comment to the OP to enable them to persue it further.
Your unhelpful response did nothing !
oh I don't know - we now know Tenerife is a "long way from Spain" I spose!! at least he got that bit right!0 -
I would just like to refer to my earlier post.
The Monarch flight was delayed due to a chance of an engine fire. The pilot was getting a warning light in the cabin which meant that a bearing was overheating which could in turn cause an engine fire. Now please tell me what you would prefer, a 7 hour delay or an engine fire - I know which choice I'd make.
No disrespect to the OP, but I wish people would realise that their safety comes first and STOP trying to get compo all the time. I know it's a pain when these delays happen but surely you'd prefer to arrive home safely and not in a body bag!!!
Enough said...I haven't got one!0 -

Strictly speaking he was right to question the original comment, which was "I have a feeling that Tenerife is not part of the EU".
It is still part of the EU, irrespective of whether these particular pieces of legislation apply to it.0 -

That was my prime point, Tenerife (The Canaries) are NOT part of the EU, just like the Channel Islands are not.0
