Does my new SIM card have to be in my phone for a PAC transfer to happen?
Hi everyone. Currently about to use my PAC from 3, to transfer to Virgin Sim Only. I don't really want to put my new Virgin Sim in my phone until my old number has transferred because no-one has my new allocated Virgin number. I just wanted to know if I can leave my 3 sim in my phone and wait until the 3 service drops out (i.e. when the port actually goes through), and then insert my Virgin sim?
Or, does my Virgin sim need to be in my phone and active on their network for the port to happen?
If the networks would give you an accurate time, date etc then this wouldn't be an issue, but I expect the best notice you get is the day it will happen?

Once the old sim dies, stick the new one in and see what happens. You should get a number of sim updates which change the number to your old one (I can't tell you how many, it varies with networks and phones).
If nothing comes through after, say 30 minutes, switch it off for an hour and try again, it'll happen after a while.0
