I have my first MS this Sunday, but after reading quite a few pages on here i'm now a little worried about not getting paid for jobs. Is this common? And what what sorts of things do they not pay for? If anyones got a top 5 tips for being paid i'd be eternally greatful. Thanks!

edit - sp. Doh! better not do that Sunday!

How quiet is it on MS front at the mo!!?

I have had hardly anything this week, and we are on holiday for a week from tomorrow. Only stuff I have lined up is couple of bookies with Gap and some supermarket bits and bobs with TNS.

Hoping for few envelopes from Aba-i tomorrow, .... wishful thinking though probably. Talking of Aba-i, have been hoping for some petrol stations with them, which would keep us in coffees from here till we arrive on hols!!

Very quiet here too, with just a few bookies to keep me going - However, partly as with the swaparound (i.e. railway station bits moving to RE), I no longer choose to do them - Used to be good, now too much hassle for too little money.

Got some petrol money coming soon, in a lovely envelope, but otherwise pretty dead.

Hey, the only time i've not been paid for a job was when I went to the wrong shop! Whoooops, rookie mistake! So I would say always make sure you know exactly which shop you're supposed to be going to!
Only other thing I would say is to make sure you know everything you're supposed to be looking out for. I tend to make short notes and save them as a draft text on my phone so I can check them in the shop without seeming obvious.
    Good luck x

Don't worry you will get paid. There are thousands of mystery shoppers and the number of people on this thread who say they don't get paid is a tiny minority.

    1. Do a dummy run somewhere else first.
    2. Remember times, names, descriptions, receipts.
    3. Write your report positively, even if you have to make negative comments make sure there are positive ones.

There must be two more things but I don't know what they are.

Good luck to you, you will be fine.

I like the idea about the dummy run Scotsbob. I'm doing a shop tomorrow at Sainsburys (not MS unfortunately!) so will see how I go.

To me it's obvious. I am surprised how many people come here expressing the same concerns as yourself on their first visit. Yet it never occurs to them to have a practice first.

If you go to a similar venue and do a dummy run and then complete the questionnaire (which you have downloaded on your computer) then you can see what you missed and what you got right.

Then when you do the real thing you got it sussed.

Personally I believe the real secret is getting the reports right. If you can do that, then the companies will start to offer you the better jobs.

I did my first 2 jobs tonight. One was a burger place and the other a supermarket.

After I got served I asked for a receipt. As soon as I walked away from the till I seen the manager walking over to the cleaner and speaking to her whilst looking in my direction. It was obvious they had realised I was their mystery shopper. The cleaner then took her bucket etc into the toilets and then came out cleaning the floors and tables. She then came over and starting chatting to me about the weather, holidays etc. It was funny as she was couldn't have been more nicer to me. When I finished my meal I went to the toilets and 1 minute later she was in behind me!!

The supermarket was next after that. I had loads of departments to visit and lots of names and descriptions to remember, hopefully i've done ok in completing the form. It seemed simple enough.

Because not everyone is as smart as you, and may not know what town/city their postcode area belongs to, as the poster who was posting at the same time as when i posted my list.

Just because you understand it doesn't mean everyone does.

I posted the list to help people, perhaps I should bother if people are just going to criticise :mad::mad:
Well I for one always appreciate all the help I can get here so thanks Monkey once again for your invaluable help - Anna x
