Beware Tesco not updating prices / offers

I have been nearly caught twice recently - only because I had a very few items did I notice that Tescos in Huntingdon had not updated their offers onto the tills (self serve ones in my case...)

They were first offering hot cross buns on BOGOF (80p), but the till tried to charge full price.

Then this morning I took advantage of the Sandwich / Crisps / water offer for £2, but with one other item priced at exactly £2 my bill came to £4.36..

Anyone else get this happening to them, and is it only self service tills ?

Oh, and worth mentioning that I complained to Jacobs re the lack of chocolate on Club Biscuits, they (United Biscuits) replied with a letter about portion sizes for lunch boxes and £2 in vouchers. Well worth 5 mins on their website, which is all it took. We want our chunky Clubs back !!!

    Hi Carmine.

Err No !! And unfortunately as it was 6.30am I took the refund and ran... I had no idea about this double the difference thing (as a man, it doesn't normally fall within my domestic remit lol)..

My concern is also for people who buy these items as part of a big shop and miss the overcharge..

well - on friday we bought two boxes of cider, shelf said £12 each or two for £16. Dh went through the till while I was in the ladies. Later I noticed they'd charged £12 each no discount, went back to cs desk, sa collected a box from the shelf, scanned it, and confirmed the system was faulty, so I got DTD, £16 refund with an £8 bonus .
My husband hadn't even noticed the overcharge..
  • I love overcharges, but I have not had any lately! And I always check my receipt carefully.

Hardly makes up for buying lots of cartons of juice on 3 for £2 offer the other week & them charging me full price for all of them though(some were over £1!) Didn't realise til we got home & couldn't be @rsed to go back & argue the toss with them.

its not going to bge just the self service tills as all the tills work off the same system

were you doubly sure that the juice was included on the 3 for 2 offer, im not saying you didnt check but ive known customers who think that an item is on the offer when it isnt and they get stroppy when they're told that it isnt included in the offer
  • I have this rule 'if it's not a deal it stays on the shelf' and because i have reason to go by all the big 5 at some point over a 4 week cycle it works well.....BUT I DO FIND MYSELF ON EVERY OTHER VISIT GOING TO CUSTOMER SERVICES AS THE DEALS INVARIABLY DONT GO THROUGH AND I KNOW THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING!!
It is the supermarkets way of maximising profits you see...ALWAYS CHECK RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING STORE.............ALWAYS....I cannott keep count of the number of deals that dont go through..........

I was ripped off in tescos by paying £20 for 2 box's of larger instead of 2 for £16. They admitted the advert was touching the brand I bought but said the brand had been put in the wrong place. I had paid the correct price so stuff it. They agreed the advert was wrong and called some one to change the stock that was on display. I told them they were trading illegally but the manager said "its nothing to do with me". They offered me a refund but I actually wanted the product. Surely I was entitled to pay the price as advertised.
