  • OMG – DH is definitely learning about how to distract me on the 2WW….Mr ‘spend ages thinking about things but never get around to actually doing them, especially if using a telephone is involved’ just called me to say that an advert for a camper-van just ‘jumped out’ at him from the paper, and we’re going to look at it tonight!
Now we’ve always planned on buying one, when he gets closer to retirement, and we did say last week after his people-carrier limped through it’s MOT again that we’d probably have to change his car later this year, but I have NEVER known him to be pro-active like this before – to say that I am gobsmacked is an understatement!
Trying not to get too excited – it is an old model and probably needs quite a bit of work (especially at that low a price) but it is certainly a distraction!

OS-wise, I’m planning on quite a bit of cleaning & tidying tomorrow, and a BBQ tomorrow evening, so going to make dough in the BM and try baking rolls!
I should have been doing a sponsored walk, but have decided that in that heat, with my hayfever as bad as it is, 14 miles will not be a good idea (seemed a good idea at the time - if my treatment had gone to plan I would have been over the 2WW by now) so DH & the SK’s will go without me and I will have peace & quiet to potter – except that my mum is coming to help me and ‘keep an eye on me’ – bless her! – She wouldn’t even let me load & unload the shopping bags yesterday in case they were too heavy, and she’s never been the type of mum to fuss before!

Sunnygirl – looks like I share a birthday with your DS2! Have agreed with DH that we will have a quiet meal in a local restaurant on the day. I’ll be almost halfway through the 2WW at that point, so watching what I eat and no glass of wine for me. If results are good the following week then it will all have been worth it, but if they are bad then we’re going out for a big posh meal with lots and lots of wine to help commiserate!!!!!

JackieO – my freezer seems like that too – in theory this new one is larger than the previous, but there’s still never any room in it….

Bitsy – sorry your hol was cut short. If you want a nice meal at home for your anniversary, I see that M&S are doing the ‘dine for £10’ again this weekend.

Ruthibe – sorry to hear about your mum, that is so tough. If you succeed in finding out how to stop teens eating everything in sight, please let me know! The DSK’s are coming this weekend, and they are like a plague of locusts in my kitchen AAARGGHHHH!

*creeps back in hoping to not be kicked out for lack of OS-ness*

Got back from our hols, only for me to be struck down with what seemed like food poisoning. Can't think what can have caused it. As a result, I've been doing next to nothing.

We did trim the elder branches overhanging the garden at the weekend though, and as there was loads of lovely blossom on them, I've now got 2 gallons of elderflower wine bubbling merrily away in the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] spare room. Does that count as OS enough?:o

    Afternoon all,

Not a wonderful day here weatherwise, not much rain just the odd shower, but temperature down a bit and its windy.

Was on school run this morning with DGS2 and then off to the airport with DD1 and a friend who are off to Sardinia for a week....temp was 38 there yesterday so they are hoping for good beach weather.

DD4 has got an apartment to rent and will be moving out as soon as all is settled....not sure how we are going to cope here, OH and I will only have each other to argue with, and we will both miss both DD and DGS2 dreadfully, but it is time for them to go and make a life for themselves, I have been dreading lately that either OH or I would be come incapacitated and that she would be trapped here, would rather that we mooch on in our own way for as long as possible and that none of the family get 'stuck' having to care for us...morbid thoughts but I have to be positive for DD so am not voicing my thoughts to anyone else.

Going out for dinner to-night, just Chinese buffet thing....have heard good reports but have never been at one before so a little apprehensive....quite cheap, would rather pay extra and be sure of decent food....just OH, DD4 DS3 DDIL2 and two grandsons, so seven of us, looking forward to it as we are off in about 3 hours.

With all the coming and going to-day and a 90 minute chat to the cousins in Australia, there has been nothing OS done here, apart from washing on and washing out, not sure when it will dry but not bothered will do it good to have a blow in the wind.

Hester, hope that your eye is improving....still don't know what good news is, don't get to blogs often, but gather it about OH, so congratulations.

Bitsy, sorry that you had to come home, really the only place to be ill in comfort is your own bed, so correct decision IMO...happy anniversary to you both.

Happy anniversary jayward and Mr jayward...time passes quickly doesn't it.

FE....afraid that I would be like your mother and fuss dreadfully, do take it easy though....your OH sounds like mine...never does anything off his own bat...worse than half a dozen kids!

Hugs to all in need or want....should go and do something 'housey' as it is unlikely that I will do anything when I come back from dinner

    Marie

Absolutely, Lame Wolf....hope that you are feeling better now and that the wine turns out well!

Meanmarie just to let you know I love chinese buffet places. They are ideal for trying something that you wouldn't normally have, so if you don't like it at least you're not stuck with a whole dish of the stuff. Not sure how old/large your grandkids are but round here they charge kids as adults if they are over a certain height in some places....not good for us as DS1 hit 6 ft when he was 14! Enjoy yourself whatever tho.
    Banana Lovers
Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

I can not praise warm front and there contractors enough:T:TWE have had great service.

my wife only phoned the 6 weeks ago and thay came out to see us within a week. 3 weeks later thay came and fitted us a new boiler and a week later thay have done the loft for us with new inserlashion.

If any of you are on DLA or income suport or over 65 i think then thay will come out to you and try to help you save money on your heating. If your boiler is very old or not working propley then thay will replace it for you. If you dont have any centrel heating at all then thay will put it in for you.
It dont matter if you own your house or rebt it thay will still carry out work. There are lots of differnt things taht tahy can do for you. We only had the new boiler and new loft inserlashion but there are other stuff that thay do too.
It really is worth contacting them
Hope that you all have a great evening.

Jayward and Bitsy - Happy Anniversary. Sorry you had to cut your holiday short Bitsy.

I did pop on last night, but my computer decided to lose internet connection as I was about to post, and I didn't make it back on. Had 2 prison visits to do yesterday, the best bit of the day was the pizza hut buffet in between visits!

Busy day at work today, had my own prisoner then helped a colleague with 2 more. Helped an 11 hour shift pass quickly though, didn't get to eat my lunch til 5pm!

Nothing OS to report, always go's out the window when I'm on my long week at work as I work quite long hours on some days (but don't feel too sorry for me, its all self inflicted so I can have the majority of the school holidays off!).

Got a sweet potato and spinach curry out the freezer to take with me to work tomorrow. Its a recipe from this months Slimming World Mag and really nice. Hopefully I'll get to eat lunch at a more reasonable hour tomorrow, although saying that weekends are generally busy with drunks that have been in the cells all weekend, plus its grand prix weekend. Sure it will all be good fun!
