Morning from grey & wet Manchester

Sounds like everyone is going to have great courgette plants with Redruby's techniques ;) I've only ventured into lettuce this year I might have a go at other crops next summer.

Plans for today are to go to Asda for a few bits this morning ready for a party that DS2 is having for his birthday tomorow night. His actual birthday is Tuesday so I'll make the cake for that. I also need to have a quick tidy round, hoover through and make a pasta bake for tea. Everyone loves it even though they don't know how many veggies are hidden in there :p

    N9eav Enjoy the fishing

Bitsy Sorry you had to cut short your holiday and Happy Anniversary to you both.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

    Morning All!
Been offline for a couple of days, as had no electric upstairs.:o
What happened was I re-grouted the bathroom tiles, and cleaned out the silicone round the bath (mouldy eugh!) Then washed it all down........... we've got bare boards in the bathroom at the mo, waiting for the flooring. water went down into the kitchen, and then BANG! electric went off. Couldn't work out what it was. Electrician came weds night, said it was the boiker switch, replaced the switch..........okay till he left then BANG! He came back yesterday, and after two hours found that the original wire to the old boiler was burnt out. Apparently, not my fault entirely, it had been like that for years, and I just finished it off:rotfl: This house is a nightmare! the people before us were such bodgers:mad:
    Anyway, all okay now.:T

N9eav- Good luck with the fishing comp!
Bitsy - Happy Anniversary! Sorry about your holiday.

Have a good day all, going to town now!

    Morning all.Welcome Lav1979.
    Good fishing N9eav.
Happy Anniversary Bitsy.Have a good evening.Sorry your hols were cut short and hope DS is better soon.
Halight -Hope your loft is soon finished and you get straight.I think I'd have to work through the night to empty our loft, never mind 10pm!

Well need to have a good tidy in the kitchen, then I'm out for lunch, going to my old neighbours, not seen her for ages so looking forward to a catch up.We were neighbours for about 20 years, through the time our sons were small and we were SAHMs so we became good friends.

Yesterday at my local Co-op,I bought some living salad for £1 a tray-the oriental mix consisting of pak choi, tatsoi, mustard and chard. Its meant to last 10 days or so,but what I did with another pack a couple of months ago was I split it up and planted the individual plants out in one of my veg troughs with a bit more soil, and its still going strong. In fact they grew so well I had to split them again. The pak choi especially got really decent sized leaves, which I used in the Thai chicken curry last night.I'm running out of troughs though.Kind of a 'cheats'home grown veg (well if Delia can cheat...)

Also in the Co-op I bought a reduced joint of pork,so bunged that in the remoska when I got home,so thats tonights tea sorted. Not sure if DS1 will be home for tea,he has to pick his girlfriend up from the airport.
Right better get a move on,good days all.x

Good Morning Chums ,beautiful day here in North Kent .Just had the chap from the double glazing round and ordered my new front door and two small windows for the porch. So feeling a bit lighter in the pocket at the moment, but they were badly needed and will save me a fortune in painting and heat. Got a good deal on it as well as they were the firm that supplied my conservatory two years ago. Good workmanship and a friendly small company. College this afternoon, all about Lindifarne and St Michaels Mount, and then a three hour lecture tomorrow morning at Uni .
Will have to pick up DGD's stuff from her house as I said I would give it a good iron and check all buttons and threads are o.k. She is off the the Dominican replublic with her Dad in a weeks time and Mum is very busy at work so Granny will give the whole of her outfits a good checkover for her.
Also I must check the freezer to see whats still available, I have been trying to 'eat it down' a bit but it still seems to be as full as usual, perhaps things are multipyling in there !!!
Hope everyone has a great week-end as the forecast is good for some sun.Wimbledon starts next week so its feet up and a few strawberries and cream teas for me.
    Cheers All

Monring everyone, I've been awol for a couple of weeks.

MIL is out of hospital :j, they have stopped her as it wasn't working this time round :(, so now we'll just have to make the most of whatever time she has left. I'm hoping that she might perk up enough that they can go back on their boat for a little while this summer but who knows. I have a feeling tough times are ahead.

OS wise I really really REALLY need to get my grocery spending down, so need to menu plan and STOP visiting the supermarkets so often! Also need to get the teenager to stop eating everything in sight!

I'm at work so not much other OS being done today, although am hoping DS1 will hang washing out for me.

    Bye for now

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning
