Hi Rictus123
Everything is basically skewed by the flat. Our house has been valued at £210k and we owe £145k but because we couldn't sell the flat because we moved just as the housing the market collapsed. It's mortgaged at 66K but only worth about 74k it totally knocks the figures (not that I'm complaining, it could be into negative equity). I would sell it in a heartbeat but as no one is buying at the moment ( it's a classic 1st time buyers flat) I just need to bide my time. Hope that makes a bit more sense.

Ah, what a difference a day makes!
OH came home last night and told me there will be redundancies in his work, they won't know from which departments and who it's going to impact on until next week (very kindly on our wee one's 1st birthday!). So that knocks any broodiness into touch and at least if I'm still full time we can still cover our bills. Need to wait and see what happens next week.

hiya,
Just read your whole thread- bit of a change over 18 months!
Looking at your SOA I see what rictus123 means- I don't think you have included the flat as an asset, which is skewing your figures dramatically.
I just lurk on this board most of the time and I know how life bites you on the backside when trying to be MF, something else always comes up. Anyway, good luck to your OH and his job I have my figures crossed!Saving for an early retirement!0 -
Sorry to hear about OH's job news. Think a lot of people are in the same position. At least you've had your eye's on the pennies. A lot of people find out the bad news and have massive debts.
Our little one is one tomorrow and I think it's inspired me to get a little more financially responsible. I'm sure you'll all be ok. Maybe finding a challenge might be called for?Mortgage Free Date

Hi
Feel I should point out that SOA will be from the 1st of August 2011 as I'm still on no pay at moment which I have been for last six months and this why we don't really have any savings left. Will get roughly a half pay in July as I'm only back for half of June.
Thanks for support Imelda and Kingster 2069, also kingster enjoy your wee one's birthday today. They are so interesting and funny at this stage and plus it's quite an achievement to make it through the first year of parenthood relatively unscathed!
OH has had it confirmed that those being made redundant will be let go of in September. If he is told he's to be made redundant next Wednesday then it will give the chance for my wages to kick in properly. Without his commute, we would be able to get by with my wage. It'll be ok but I do think I might need to sign up for the no spend day challenge if anyone can direct me to the thread please.

Have just realised I've made it sound as if it is definite OH is being made redundant, sorry my apologies. It should have said that he had it confirmed yesterday that if he is getting made redundant he will get let go of in September, up until that point we didn't know when the job would end. We still won't know for definite if he is one of the people going until this Wednesday. Sorry, bad grammar possibly due to being up half the night with a teething monster but thank you very much for your concern clearmydebts, we still might need it come Wednesday!

Joined the June no spend challenge and have set my target for five NSD's. Managed 1 NSD yesterday but today has been a very spendy day but did manage a few bargains. Needed new work shoes as feet have gone up half a size since having poppet, went to Clarks outlet shop and they are doing a multi save deal, buy 1 pair get second for a tenner so managed to get 2 pairs of Clarks shoes for £40 when they should have cost £95 at full price:j! Unfortunately then had to get the weekly shop and stuff for 3 birthday parties and ended up spending £86:mad:
Ah well, need to eat and celebrate every now and then!

Hi
Well OH has been told that his job role is on the new short list of possible jobs that may go in the redundancy. Talk about dragging it out. His work must know who is going and who isn't. Wish they would just say and let us deal with the fall out from it. Mortgage was supposed to be redeemed today for the new mortgage provider to take over but according to Nationwide on-line, they still have our mortgage. Will need to wait and see what changes, if any are showing on line tomorrow. On the plus side, got my second no spend day yesterday. Feeling low about returning to work as have already had e-mails/calls from staff re problems at work and I'm not even back yet:(. Also got e-mail from electricity and gas provider letting me know that our fixed rate is coming to an end so will need to look into the next best rate (if there are any!) to switch to.

Husband is not getting made redundant. Company got enough voluntary redundancies and 2 individuals on short term contracts not renewed that he has escaped the chop at the moment. So time to build up the savings while we are both in work. Offset mortgage finally went through and I can't wait for pay day a) as it's the first time I've been paid in 6 months and b) we'll have something to put in to offset against the mortgage, happy days:j
Returning to work sucks, no matter how I dress it up to myself, I'd much rather be at home with poppet. Onward and downward with the mortgage.getting out of debt 1753/83500
