Pullling my hair out - guidance appreciated.

An installation company popped around today to give an estimate and said I could put it on a pole on the corner of the house so that the dish is just above the gutter line so it should be ok. He was a bit anti motorised set-ups though saying people of lots of problems with them and they are expensive to buy, install and set up. Could this be as he is an approved sky installer?

Installers, like shops, get a commission from Sky for selling subscriptions.
