He simply "got" you whilst on your way back to the car
The likes of Excel don't really care if you have paid or not - They usually ticket at the slightest excuse and "appeals" are seldom if ever upheld. They just want your money.
Search back in this forum. You will find a few "I paid but still got a ticket" type threads.

dmg24 is clearly not a sympathiser with those of us with dyslexia. Dyslexia doesn't mean we are thick, we just take longer to read. I use spell checker and use an admin assistant in work who helps me out by proof reading thing I send out.
I'm by no means the worse sufferer; soem may have missed the point - I'm trying to see if there is any case law or precident I can use to defend should this ever end up in court.
I think I have a good resason, but woudl rather pay £100 now, rather than end up hundreds out of pocket in a failed court case in months time.

You have no chance of losing in court; PPCs have never won a properly defended case- apart from anything else, penalty charges are illegal, as per the House of Lords judgment in Dunlop v New Motor Co (1915).
Furthermore, they can only claim their actual loss, which is £0 as you paid for a valid ticket.
Ignore everything Excel send to you, unless it's real court papers (which won't happen).0
