    They dont always take no for an answer hence why I gave a plausible reason to tell them to go

    Point taken but just by saying something like 'I'm a tenant...blah blah blah..." it instigates a conversation with them.

    In my opinion it's much easier to say 'no thanks' or 'not interested' and close the door.
