Can't you put a big padlock on your gate and have your kids play in the back garden instead?..not a solution of course but it would give you a bit of extra peace.

Environmental Health for the noise and urinating. Being sworn at, whilst unacceptable, is not a police matter.

Try swearing at a police officer and you'll swiftly find out it that it *is*. If it forms part of behaviour that is perceived as threatening and/or anti-social then it can be acted upon: it's a public order offence and can result in a fixed penalty notice being issued.

kellyjelly - have a look at http://www.nfh.org.uk/ - the "neighbours from hell" website.

Find who your local councillors are by putting your postcode in here: http://www.writetothem.com/. Councils and the police *have* to act on anti-social behaviour once they have made aware that there is a problem and you are best putting it all in writing to them. Phone their out of hours number every time there is a problem and follow it up in writing. Do the same with the police. Find out who the local community support officer is and go and see him/her.

As you are pregnant get the support of your GP and/or your HV.

Is there a tenants/residents association on your estate?

There is the Humberside Law Centre on Alfred Gelder Street and Hull Independent Housing Aid Centre (HIHAC) on Beverley Road, tel 01482 329591 - they should be able to offer you some support and advice on how best to deal with this.
  • Just a quick update

The police came this morning so i could give a statement and he has been causing alot of problems in the area for a number of years now.

I have also reported the problems to the anti-social team and they are going to contact me on Monday about it, i also plan to see my local housing officer to see if i can be moved out of the area all together.

I am staying with my parents now because its all too much for me at the moment.

Thank you for all the lovely advice, i feel alittle better about it all now.

It might also be an idea to sound out your other neighbours, and see if they find this family a problem - the landlords are more likely to take action if more than one tenant complains.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

:oOh what a day, I have been playing with the children in the front garden this evening to find one of the neighbours come into the garden and demand i give him a cig. (i dont smoke)

He was totally plastered on vodka and went on to shout abuse at me and call me a S*** to which my partner came out and asked what his problem was.

I have called the police but they didnt even bother coming out and phoned to say the have reported him to the local asbo team

I am so annoyed that a drunk man can come into my garden while i am playing with my children and shout abuse at me and just get away with it.

I am considering buying one of them tents that are on special offer at asda and moving far far far away.

If i dont laugh about it then ill cry :o:(

I don't know what to say. If I saw someone talk to my wife like that I'd give up my freedom over it.
Boris Johnson voted against Brexit in the Commons, all to become leader of the Conservative Party. Fall for it and you deserve everything you get.

Sadly, that would be the case and Im afraid its easier said than done. We have had a NFH for 4 years now and every time we think he has learnt a lesson he comes back with more. Currently he has been summonsed for common assault - ie. spitting in my OH's face.

OH has been assaulted before by him but as the policeman said to me, he does it without witnesses - even if you had a broken arm without evidence he can say he wasnt there. He knows this and uses it all the time - if he says he didnt do anything then no one can prove different. This time we had dna. Husband could throttle him but we would be the losers then. Its a nightmare I can tell you.

Yes, it's terrible to think of being spat at as a positive step forward but it was for you!

We used to have a neighbour who peed off his balcony and puked off it too... council did nothing until a workman got wet one day... and then they took it very seriously... (edit: yes I have lived in some strange places)
