Lost out three times when trying to book a £1 one....got to the confirmation page and it said it was no longer available but managed to get a £29 one very happy

LOL I was a bit silly when trying to book pound room as clicked on check in day only, how stupid.Then went back to try and the pound ones had gone, please with my 29 quid one though .. how exciting

I went for the £1 room first then saw that there were £29 rooms still left for the friday I needed. I was sure I would have to pay the normal price for that night and as a rather skint postgrad student I was very happy to see the £29 rooms. I've stayed with them before so my details are on their system which definitely helped as I didn't have to type in my address. I copied and pasted my email address into the box to speed things up, and then I did the same with my credit card number (I take forever typing numbers on my laptop as it has no number pad). The website was very fast for me this time, unlike the last couple of sales. I also had a window each of firefox and IE open on the hoxton homepage so I refreshed both of those when the countdown finished and went with the one that loaded first.

Hello All

Either this is a Hoax or Nobody explained this properly. Went to the homepage and tried to book and there were no £1 or £29 bookings. I do note the person above claims there is a countdown on the homepage and I assume there is a link or something pops up for us to click on, but that wasn't explained or there is no picture of that where it tells u about the £1 deal. If this is true, this woulkd of been the best tips for us to know unless people were to greedy to share or the promotion is a Hoxton Hoax.

YAY!! I managed to get a room for £1 in August. Wasn't sure I was going to get it in time as i forgot about putting a check out day at first but realised my mistake and got the room!!!! A few months ago I won a free night at any Hyatt Hotel so now i can hopefully arrange that night for either side of my stay at The Hoxton and have two nights stay in London for the princley sum of £1!!!! :j

It's not a hoax but there is much more demand for the rooms than there are available (only 500 £1 and 500 £29).

I couldn't remember if you had to refresh the page or not when the countdown finished but someone a couple of pages back asked and was answered that you do. So when it gets to 00.00.00 it just stays there and no link automatically appears, so to get the links to the £1 and £29 rooms to appear you have to refresh the page. That's where it has slowed down for me in the past, when the thousands of people all watching the countdown press refresh at the same time. This time it was really fast (for me at least) and I think that's the reason why I managed to get the rooms I did.

The other tip I would give is to copy and paste your details into the form unless you're a really fast typer.

All 1000 rooms sold out in 10 minutes with a staggering 79,489 people trying to book in the first 5 minutes alone.
All of our £1 rooms sold within 4 minutes and the £29 rooms were sold out within 10 minutes. Many thanks to our technology partners at Travelclick who have worked extremely hard to cope with the huge volume of customers trying to book this promotion.
