I wish they'd never posted that "Comping for Cash" article - I've just about had my fill of newbies posting to say thanks, and ones that can't work out from previous posts that it's a cash prize for chrissakes.
Newbies, read the comping guide NOW. I know we're supposed to be nice but we say the same thing over and over and get ignored. No wonder we get piddled off. I just want to comp.

I don't see what this thread has to do with your grudge against newbies, however I think a little bit of patience is required, we were all new on this forum at somepoint.
I think people should just try to be nicer when pointing newbies in the right direction. Asking a question is not a hanging offence afterall.
Come on peeps, lets all try to be nice.:j0 -
can i just say that i've had pm's from new people when catowen has been a little late posting asking if they should put it on as they hadn't seen it on the boards, this has been about 2 mins after cat usually posts it  i have replied that it's only polite to pm the usual poster to ask first, catowen has always posted these & tbh think it's obvious it's a cash prize,
& tbh i think kat was a little rude in the way she asked, we should all remember catowen is doing us the favour by using her time putting these comps on for us when she could be entering other comps for herself,
i don't think dalkirst had a go at you Gollum , if the search was used for the comps then it's quite easy to see who the regular posters of the regular comps are,

I only searched the posts made since the programme had started. It wasn't there so I posted it. Why would I search for previous days- I wasn't going to post those.:j0

Just want to say that it's easy to take things the wrong way when it's in writing and not spoken. I didn't think Kat was rude and I didn't think Darren was sarcastic, it's just the way you interpret something. If I get riled on forums I usually log off, calm down and realise it's just a forum on the internet, not an international meeting for world peace!0

tbh Gollum, sometimes the regular poster may be a little late posting, surely it doesn't harm to wait 15 mins or so just to see of the reg op does post it ? then if they don't i think it's only polite to ask first when someone knows someone does them regularly, newbies can always ask in the comps diss. threads if they are unsure who regulary posts stuff, or, if they think the reg poster isn't going to do it
Edit*
just thinking about this , sometimes the reg poster might be doing other comps to help fill in for someone so they will be a bit late posting their own comps if helping out with others, i'm late posting my postals this week but will be there in a mo:rotfl:

Don't take offence Gollum. If you think Dalkirst is fierce, Dont mess with Al Mac !!
We all makes mistakes, and does it really matter whether or not its worded in a flowery way, or in a matter of fact way ??
All the matters is that we take notice.
If our mistakes are pointed out to us, then we dont do it again (in theory).
The regular posters do a brilliant job, and the BGs and the more experienced members, keep the boards neat and tidy, so s we can all comp in an organised way.0 -
No. It seems this competition is exempt from normal forum rules.
I don't see why the poster can't just put CASH in the title when they don't know how much it will be. Rather than be sarcastic to katchambers or anyone else who asks a perfectly legitimate question. The poster is the only one allowed to post the competition even though they are not at home when the programme is on.And anyone who tries to help gets slated. They are also exempt from having to do searches and don't get told off for duplicating posts (as lots of others do). This is not an attack on the OP (I'm grateful for all competitions she posts) but more about the reaction by people if anyone dares to question a post.
Rant over, I've needed to get this off my chest since Dalkirst had a go at me for trying to help out.
Thanks for that - i sit through c**p telly (well, some of it is), often rush home for various comps and make sure i always post for the benefit of everybody here, so they arnt missed - and this is the thanks i get, purely because i dont put 'cash' in the title.
Actually, if you want to be picky, its not cash, its a cheque (and that is me being sarcastic).
Also, where was i being sarcastic apart from above? I answered a question that was asked - and i know you have put this isnt an attack on the OP, but maybe you should go back and re read it, because that is exactly what i read.
Also, i am home when i post the comps - how do you think they get on here otherwise? Yes, sometimes i let my son answer them for me because he likes to, but where do you think i am?
I will still post these comps because the majority of people on here are lovely - but just to let you know, im really upset now because i cant believe someone can be so nasty. Yes, its faceless posting on a forum, but its real people who are reading, and maybe you dont have feelings but i have and just because someone once upset you on here, is no reason for you to attack me.0 -

Cant believe someone would post that!
I would class myself as a "newbie" and everyone on this forum has been nothing but nice.
All it took was a little bit of time to read the stickies that all the nice people spent alot of their time putting up for people just starting out on the comps.
I think this is were some of the arguements start as so many dont bother.
All it takes is a little gratitued for the posters of the comps.
They spend their time for the benefit of the others and some still complain.
I think they deserve more than some of the comments above!!!!"Opportunity only knocks once.It doesnt knock, knock again, then leave a note asking you to give it a call back when you've got your s*** together".John Connolly0
