Try what laz said first. Uninstall the driver, reboot and let it reinstall
What software are you using and what discs are they?:idea:0 -
Ive had some problems burning my documents to a DVDR - Im getting an error 0x8007054F. When I googled that error code it seems there is a registry problem. A further bit of googling gives a site for Reg Cure. I downloaded the program and ran it and it comes up with over a thousand registry errors
And let me guess, their finest snake oil lotion can cure them all plus several un-known errors, step right up folks, here's a testimony from a random person in the crowd? If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Still struggling guys. A friend told me I was making too much of it, just to put in a disc and right click on documents and then send to DVDR drive. I tried this but I get the Error 0X8007054F.
Ive tried burning again the other way but after 2 hours it was still only a quarter way through. The copy speed was about 800 per sec or less?
Oh thanks for info re drivers but sorry, dumbo here - how on earth do you uninstall and reinstall drivers for the DVD please?

Hi - I guess you are using vista which I've heard can burn dvd's but I don't use.
Can you get some dvd burning software and try that? There are free versions available - I use an old copy of nero..
Does vista have device manager? This is where I would look to see if your dvd writer is being seen and also the place to "uninstall" it , so it can be re-installed on startup , vista/xp have all the drivers for a dvd writer.0 -
That error code essentially says "An internal error has occurred" which in English translates to "something bad happened. I don't know what".
Which is.. um.. less than helpful.
I wouldn't say there's anything in that which points to a registry issue as such. There might be a bad value in the registry causing this (though I doubt it) but this isn't a registry issue in much the same way that any out of date milk in my fridge isn't a "fridge issue".
I think the problem is far more likely to point to the burner or disks. What happens if you try alternate DVD burning software? (cdburnerXP is free from here and worth a go). What happens if you try a different brand of disk?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

Oh thank goodness, Im allowed access again, I was locked out when the site came back on earlier
I did manage to uninstall and reinstall but sadly it made no difference I start off being told 16 minutes left and half an hour later Im being told several days remainingThe software appears to be Dell's Roxio Creator DE.
Ill get to town tomorrow and buy some other DVDs and see if that helps. Ive had no trouble in the past with CDs but as I said I need the bigger capacity. I am now wondering whether an external hard drive would be a good idea.
Very grateful for everyones help0 -
Re Reg Cure. After running two 'recommended' registry cleaners (Registry Mechanic and Amust Registry Cleaner) which reported no errors, I tried Reg Cure which reported over 1000 errors. Considering my computer is running without any apparent problems (I hope I don't regret saying that), it seems unbelievable. I decided not to buy.0
