Hi Guys,
Anybody done this before?
Me and the G/f want to remove our bath completely, and install a large, double shower cubicle in the corner of the bathroom.
I'm just a little worried it will make the value of the house decrease?
Anybody know?
And if I do go ahead, andbody any tips of what to do, and what not to do, whilst doing a task like this?
Cheers

You limit the appeal when selling a house with only a shower. Most people prefer a bath and a shower and those with children will need a bath..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Stop caring about the future , if you want a large shower get one , life is too short to worry about such a trivial matter!
Ps I have a Large whirl pool bath ..... but only use the power shower in the en suite0 -
hi you could get one of those p shaped baths with shower screen to get the best of both worlds or just put a shower over the bath whats in now minding if you go for an electric shower you will need to get the wireing and rcd done too if you go for a thermostatic shower it will need to be the right one for your hot watter setup0

We are going with a thermostatic one, for our combi boiler.
Going to get a few quotes in, and see the difference between removal of bath, and fitting above (with tiling etc included)

It will affect the number of people your place appeals to.
You can get some nice showerbaths these days which is a good catch-all for resale.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

A lot of elderly people find baths difficult and both my parents and my in laws are in the process of removing their baths and replacing with shower cubicles.
It might put off someone who wants to move into a perfect, nothing to do home, but these days most people seem to want to re-do everything anyway.
Some may prefer to have a shower, but I think anybody with kids (or a dog!) would need a bath.0 -
true if you do come to sell ur house people arent just gonna want to buy it for the bath and in the end ur gonna be taking the bath out they could always put one back in thats if they want to or if you want to sell the house if you want a shower putting in u put one in their are alot of houses just with shower rooms in them hope this helps0

just remember if you do this ur gonna have to put the waste under the ground an you will have to have a fall on the waste pipe to make the water drain away0
