How are Lloyds at claiming back OD and PPI charges?

Hi all, as title says really,
In brief we are now 110% in a financial hardship situation, going through my Dads bank statments i can see countless fees for going OD and Unplanned OD fee's, some upto £170! Also he has had loans back from 2001, all of which i believe had PPI sold onto them.
So I am really, really hoping we may will able to claim a lot of these back, is it a case on call the bank and ask for a copy of all charges added to the account? and then call the loan company and ask the same for PPI?
Calculate and then either phone or use the template letter?
Many thanks in advance for any information or help, i am trying my best to read as many related posts on here, but there are trillions! and it can become a tad confusing.
Cheers!

Use the template letters at all times. Download and complete the template letters. For re-claiming bank charges, you have to pay £10. Some banks may simply return it to you. HSBC returned this fee to me back in 2007. But you can claim it back, if you win.
The template letter for claims under the hardship waiver, enables you to request, statements/summary of charges and a financial statement form to complete. If your bank refuses to send the financial statement form - threaten them with the FOS ( financial ombudsman service: the FOS complaint form is online and is VERY easy to complete ).
As regards PPI download the PPI template letter. You have to pay £1 and give them 8 weeks to offer a settlement. If they don't, threaten them with the FOS or court. If your case goes to court, the judge will award 8% statutory interest, against each PPI payment claim.
You may have to send 2nd letters in each case, to chase them up.
One of the most important things is: you MUST POST ALL LETTERS ON RECORDED DELIVERY, NO EXCUSES.
You must not trust these banks/lenders.0 -
Muststopworrying, I forgot to tell you, you can only go back 6 years with regards to reclaiming bank charges. For PPI reclaims, 6 years from the date you were conned into accepting the policy. For example, if you were mis-sold PPI insurance in Sept. 2002 - you're out of time. If you were sold PPI in July 2003 onwards - you can reclaim.0

My experience is that Lloyds will send you no such hardship forms, they will send you standard waffle letters that make no sense time after time, just warning you now so you don't feel awful when they don't even consider your claim even with threats from the FOS.
Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Its still ongoing, i applied to Lloyds over a year ago i keep getting the same old standard letters back, it is with the FOS now, Lloyds do know this, and they refuse to move at all. If the FOS can't help i will have to wait like everyone else claiming from Lloyds is. They are not good on customer reclaims you will find this out yourself.
Post your results mate, i would like to see how you get on, thanks! good luck.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Widelats, Lloyds told me to visit the Money Advice Trust website, download and complete the ' common financial statement ' form , which I did. I have in my possession and have forwarded copy of letter, I received from Lloyds to the FOS instructing me to do this.
I agree with you re: waffle letters from Lloyds. They kept sending me letters, asking if I wanted to apply for telephone banking, although I closed my account, January 2008. There's a very rude member of staff at their Andover office, who I would have up, on a disciplinary if I were working in their HR dept.
Like everybody else who deals with this pathetic outfit, masquerading as a bank; I too have been past from, pillar to post, by them. FOS notified.0 -

Citizens Advice and FOS sent my expenses forms off to Andover, however, their response was the same, so i sent it back to the FOS and they are looking at it again. The waffle letters i recieved offered me nothing - they gave me "assurances of being assured" that my case will be dealt with when the test case is over, this has NOTHING to do with hardship that i asked about, 3 times i claim for hardship now and every time the same old rubbish in return.
Yes, they really are a horrible bank, more like loan sharks.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

The above is the moneyadvicetrust Common Financial Statement
If you are going to the FOS you will need:
List of charges you are claiming, Income and expenditure form, correspondence from the bank. If you have a final response from LLoyds you need to address the points they raise and why you disagree with their logic. Furthermore, you need to document what caused the issues with Priority debts arrears. For example, a bank charge is a consequence of having insufficient funds in the account, however the cause of this insufficiency is important plus to consequences of it and how Prioirty debt arrears built up because of this.
Make them aware of what you want as an outcome, for example, the clearance of the priority debt arrears plus suspension of charges allowing you to reduce the amount owing to the bank while covering your basic living expenses including priority expenses.0
