Nursery undercharged me (Whopped the £700 on my bill)

Hi there.
This happenned about 6 months ago i upped my sons days from 2 to 3.......they forgot to charge me for the extra day and i never noticed . Was splitting from my childrens father at the time and my whole life was chaotic to say the least. When they realised the owner simply put £700 on to my bill and said i needed to pay it back and when could i .
I said i would do it bit by bit. Which i have paid off about £300.
Now the fog is starting to clear in my head (and ive read their recent ofsted) im a bit peeved,
Not to mention they have overcharged me by 2 hundred pounds twice forgetting to take off payments i had made as i have been a bit low it was lucky i noticed at all.
Did i have to pay the money back to them or was it a mistake they should pay for them selves ?
People pay for my time, if someone else was taking the money for me and i realised they had only been paying me for an hour and not 2, i would not add it all up and charge them. that time is lost.
what do you think ?
(I am actually looking for a new nursery as my son dislikes it there and the stimulation is quite poor)

Ask for a breakdown of the payments you have made, so you can "work out a repayment for the balance".... then you can point out the errors.

Don't forget you will probably have to give notice if you remove your son, and you may find they still want their outstanding money.

If these are charges for a service you have had I think you really need to pay them.

I would pay it back at a token £1 a week or whatever. I'd say this is probably a legally enforcable debt but given that it was their mistake to start with you aren't under any obligation to put yourself out over it..

You should pay it back, even if they forgot to raise the bill after your son went from 2 days to 3, you really should have noticed.

Your son was there being looked after by them, so yes you owe them it.

Your line of work is irrelevant here. You have availed yourself of their services, and expected to pay extra for the extra time.

You have acknowledged that you owe them this just by the very fact you have paid some of it off.

You wouldnt stand a chance in a small claims court and you would pay costs too.
You noticed that they had overcharged you so i cant understand why you did not notice that they had undercharged you.
Best all round if you just pay it and put a full stop to it.
And check you bank statements for everything in future, they may not be the only ones who have overcharged you.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Funny how you noticed twice when they overcharged you.
But not once in months of undercharging.

And now you're saying that you "don't want" to pay it back.

    Your credibility is questionable.

You are finding excuses not to pay. The nursery made a mistake in your favour and you are taking advantage of it. They can demand you repay the money immediately but have been gracious enought to give you time to pay.

If you are not happy with the care of the nursery then give notice and find a new nursery. However if you try to leave without settling in full I'm sure they will persue you, through the courts if need be as nurseries are generally small business and have wages to pay.

You will lose a court case as I'm sure most people would notice if their bills did not increase by 1/3rd. Besides you've admitted you check your bills on at least two ocassions as you noticed you were overcharged.

You should pay. The Nursery should have noticed.

The Nursery staff need to be paid, too! I would be very surprised if the Nursery was running at a huge profit, Nursery workers are paid pennies for what they do.

You have used the slot, thereby preventing it from being used by another child. Legally and morally, therefore, you should pay.

I bet you would have noticed fast enough if they had overcharged you by a day.;)

Funny how nobody notices when the error is in their favour.
