Morning all :hello:
Am doing office work today but have decided to do it at home rather than traipse to the office in the rain.;) Have set up the lappy and all my files at the kitchen table and as it's raining I should be able to resist the temptation to do more gardening. I have lots of filing to do as I've just been stashing paperwork in the dresser srawer for a weeke or so so it will be good to clear that out. Had a late night and an early morning so it remains to be seen how productive I am today.
Made piles of fruit salad with the overflowing fruit bowl last night (Aldi's deals are great this month) so wwe had that for breakfast and the girls are away with more for lunch. Also made a cassoulet type thing with a couple of german chorizo type suasages (brought over by relatives of OH), a bag of peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes. Chucked in a huge pile of mixed soaked beans. Left it in the SC overnight and it smells great.
Just having that with crusty bread which I'll bung on in a bit.
Want to collect some nettles later, both for soup and to make some fertiliser for the veg so will rope the girlies into that after svchool if the rain abates.
Sorry to hear things have been bad Linz.
Glad you had a good time Taplady. What did you do to your poor OH to hurt his back?:whistle:
;):p
Take care everyone

Hi everyone,
Cool and grey here, but dry at the mo which is an improvement on yesterday, hardly stopped till tea time.
BM been on,had the warm crust with peanut butter for brekkie, yum, and yog maker due to finish round about now, so will inspect that in a minute.
DH rang yesterday afternoon to see if I'd started on tea-he fancied a curry.Seeing as it was about half an hour before they were due home and they'd already set off he must have known the chances were slim,so may do that tonight ,will have a hunt in the freezer shortly.
Before he got home I dragged the lounge rug into the conservatory and swapped the cushions, just to see what it looked like -I want to get a rug for there as I feel like it looks a bit bare and unfinished,DH is resisting as the house is up for sale and thinks its a waste of money,my argument is it may help the sale if it looks more inviting.Anyway when he saw the rug he had to agree it looks miles better,so we shall go and look at the weekend.
Right thats enough of my prattling, may go and do some ironing to warm myself up:rotfl:
Havent read all yesterdays thread,so hugs to anyone who needs one.x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all,
had quite a productive day yesterday My smashing granddaughter Katie came for the afternoon, and bless her, strimmed my lawn(well its starting to look more like a lawn than a hayfield at long last)She is a dear soul, and as long as I kept the ice cream soda's coming she wouldn't let me do a thing. The grass was at least a foot high and very grotty looking. Hopefully it will be able to be mowed this week-end.
Today I have a mountain of ironing to do so I will have to crack on with that, or I shall run out of clothes. My eldest DD just popped in via my house for breakfast ,she is on her way to a course in Gravesend and didn't have to be there until 10.00.She stripped and changed my bed for me and its all chugging around in the washing machine at the moment. I don't have a great deal of strength in my right arm since my op. so its difficult to lift duvets/sheets ect when they need changing. But luckily my family do all the heavy lifting for me,bless them.
Weather is beautiful at the moment ,nice and sunny with a slight wind so the bedding will be on the line shortly blowing dry. I love the smell of fresh line dried clothes beats any aerosol spray hands down.
Right time to toddle Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing and <<hugs>> to those who are feeling down and blue

Morning everyone...one of those days that you are not sure if its raining or not....grass is wet and there is the odd drop so not going to put out any washing, but have two lots of bedding...drape over the banisters I think.
Halight....happy birthday to OH....my 'baby's birthday today too, 28, where do the years go.
Taplady....hope that OH's back improves, dreadful pain backache, used to have it years ago and it incapacitates you totally...glad you enjoyed Wales.
Donnygal....enjoy your holiday.
More painting to-day....maybe, just putting on second coat on skirting boards, one door and 3 windows. Ceiling is finished and looks good.
Not sure what is for dinner...maybe spag bol, have mince in freezer, DD1 and a friend are staying to-night as they are off to Sardinia for a week to-morrow.
Swish and swipe all over to-day I think, everywhere needs a bit of a lift, so that is my OS for to-day.
Hugs to all in need, have a good day

Hi All
Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your kind messages. I spent an incredibly restless night thinking about a lot of things and I think I am finally coming to the conclusion that I wont ever be good enough in her eyes. It hurts me so much because I suppose all I want is her blessing but I dont think I will ever get it. I have decided I have enough going on without having to worry about what she says about my house, my life, the fact that she calls me fat and suggests I get some diet pills.................none of that should matter to me. I am going to focus my energy on things and people who deserve it and right now she doesnt.
Anyway..............got up today full of great intentions only to discover that we have no water! Had just enough time to fill the kettle and one pot before it got switched off! Apparently it will be off until about 7pm! Should make dinner interesting! Lol! Am thinking I might make a lasagne.
Got lots of washing to do but without water unfortunately it cant be done! Also looks like its going to rain so drying would have been an issue.
Am going to hoover (if I can ever move the dog! Lol!) and have a little bit of a tidy up. DH just text me from work to ask me if I could go pick up a MOT form for him. Although we live in a relatively small town the layout does mean that no matter where you want to go you have to drive through the town centre around the one way system! That alone could take me all afternoon!
Hope you all have a nice day
Linz xoxoxIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
Linz, it's not so much that it's what she thinks of you. My guess is that she can get away with saying all of those things because you're her daughter and keep going bck for more. If a friend said anything like that to you, you wouldn't call them again unless they apologised would you? My mother used to make me cry when I phoned her, so in the end I just stopped doing it. I'm sure you're perfect as you are.
Right, onwards and upwards....I need to be excused from OS duty for the next few days please. My sister and my niece are visiting from Ireland from tomorrow. They have relatively little in the way of fast food where they live, so tend to have a nutrition bypass while they are here and live off takeaways. I won't be joining them, but I won't be producing any culinary masterpieces, and housework will be kept to a minimum too.
Take care all of you, I should be back in the swing of things on Sunday0 -
Hi everyone
Loopylinz, You can bypass the town to get to the MOT centre by heading towards the Portaferry Road then turning right at the traffic lights oposite Martin Phiips if you're in the east, or going through the Scrabo Estate if you're in the north or west. It's best to go in early afternoon though because the traffic at tea time is dreadful.
Aussie, I hope you're ok. x
Taplady, I'm glad you and OH had a good time...you deserve it!
cranky, enjoy your time with your sister and your niece.
Long time no see....I've been busy with the house, the garden and the children so haven't had much time to post lately. Ds has been doing a project on forests for the last fortnight and thank goodness he has to hand it in tomorrow because I am well and truly fed up with spending the afternoons wandering around forest parks trying to think of 101 answers to questions about animals, trees, and wildlife in general. If I have to say ''we'll look it up when we get home'' one more time I'll scream!Saying that, he's learned a lot and I have learned some things too.
Today the weather is sunny with clouds so I've spent some time in the garden and have repotted the cucumbers and done some general tidying up. I am going to start hardening them off in the hope that I can put them outside soon. The peppers and chillis need potted up too. We're already getting lots of strawberries and by the looks of it there are many more to come. The broad beans are going daft! They have lots of flowers which overnight seem to change into pods with teeny weeny beans in them. I usually try to spend a little time out there every day, but it's a bit like MSE. I intend to go out for an hour but three hours later....I also have five punnets of reduced price plums to use so I think I'll do a crumble and make some plum vodka for Christmas presents.
I've given the house a lick and a promise this morning and I'm promising myself I'll give it a deep clean at the weekend. I'm just making a quick spaghetti bolognese for tea tonight as we have lots of cutting and sticking to do to finish the project. I am so looking forward to Friday night and a large glass of cold white wine!
Hope you're all having a good day.

Afternoon
Linz ((hugs)) I'm with everyone else in that I'd stop trying to please your Mum as you'll never do it. You sound great as you are :kisses3:
Halight Happy Birthday to your wife  What did you get her in the end from the girls?
Pink Hope things are okay with you? Edited to add: Glad you're ok and you sound as though you deserve the glass of wine tomorrow night. I sometimes think that we parents do more of the projects than the children!
Thriftlady Where are yoooou?
FairyE Prayers been said here for you.
Taplady If your DH is anything like mine he'll consider the back pain worth it
Nothing much happening here at the moment - I should be glad really  I'm going to a college interview this afternoon with DS1 he's very much looking forward to it and the new start it'll hopefully bring. Tea this evening is the much loved mash, beans & fish steaks so I'm looking forward to that. Glad it's cooler though I wouldn't fancy it in the heat.
((((hugs)))) to anyone who I've missed & I'll catch up later on xx0 -

Awww thank you so much, that makes total sense! Would you believe I have lived here for a year and a half! Lol!! Seriously the whole place just stresses me out, no matter when I try to take a 'short cut' I come out in the wrong place and have to drive round the one way system! LolIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
