Ok this is where I have to admit how sad I am ..... :-[
for the last two years, I have always managed to get through on the phones by 6.30 am, and have ordered a great long list of stuff. Admittedly even at that time of the morning, some of it has already sold out (especially kids clothes!) but the majority of it is still availaible.
Once that is complete, I then wander down to my local next store and start shopping again, Im a size 12 and manage to get at least two new suits for work everytime and the majority of stuff im after.
Oh just for info, they dont normally put the shoes into the sale until the following day ( well thats in the stores anyway!!)
Guess its each to their own, but I know I will be setting my alarm for 5.55 on the 27th and thats after a night out on boxing day - must be mad LOL ::)0 -
Sorry to sound stupid but I notice it says Sale items can only be purchased on the Next Directory Flexiable Account and not credit cards?
Could I use a debit card??0 -
I wouldn't have thought so but I could be wrong. It is probably the amount of time it will take to take your order if you haven't got an account. Time is money as they say.

I know you're only kidding here, but unless you sleep out overnight or fight to get through at dawn on the phone anyhting half decent is gone.
I think Cubegame is right in what he says about the items in the sale. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but any stock that is reasonable and mainstream never makes it to 50% off. An example is a suit jacket that in the undesirabel double breasted sells for 50% off while the single breasted version has say 25% off. Apart from that it's all the dodgy gear (or highly stylised) that no-one really wanted!
I'm sort of Mr Average with a 40R jacket size in a suit and it is IMPOSSIBLE to find any decent suits in a Next sale.
I've just decided to save myself the stress of it all any either by somewhere else or at full price but not as often!! :-/
I understand what you are saying, but in all honesty i've bought things for my family, esp for my kids stuff that I have seen full price. I have spent a few hours trawling through the sales list and have now to put it together ready to order. I would love to go out at 4 am but with two kids it's just not possible anymore. If you seriously want the best bits, get up early, go and queue for 25 mins or so: you'll get the best bargains, I assure you. If you leave it for 7 am or something, it's bound to be busy. Also if you are in London, try the city stores for suits as it's bank holiday (right ???) on the 27th, there's hardly anyone going to be there - I GUARANTEE you'll find something you LIKE
;D
Having said all this, it depends on how determined you are. I never buy anything full price, (except possibly in Ikea 8)
) - I tend to buy in the sales and put things away. But if you are like my sister who couldnt care less about a 50% discount, then maybe you might not have the patience
I do get put off sometimes with the Next sale as afterwards EVERYONE is wearing Next

First time poster: love the site by the way, already got a lot of great info.
Just to say I'm a manager at Next and have been for there for ten years and ten christmasses, this year.
I can tell you that this year around 70 percent of the stock overall is going into the sale, and it has been around this figure for the last few years even with the advent of the one dayers. There is of course exceptions to the rule, for example 90% of the ladies shoes are in this years some real bargains to be had to be fair, if you get in there early enough.
The comment regarding the suits is sort of correct, the only problem is accounting for the greedy sods who run in at 5am, and scoop up armfuls of mens suits, with the pure intention of trying them all on at home and then returning them over the next 28 days when they realise that half of thme will not be suitable. I have literally seen somone pick up a rail of suits and buy them and then watch them sheepishly return them one by one over the next few days.
We do also get excess stock delivered from our warehouses but all that stock has been availiable in the directory for the last 6 months. Sometimes we have stock left overfrom the one day sales and that will generally come in to stores 2-3 days into te sales, more as a stop gap till the new season gear arrives.
Anyway enjoy the sale and remember if you are shouting at someone it could be me so play nice.:)0 -

I've heard managers get 60% off normal price all the time - is that true ;D 8) :P

I always find it amazing people actually queue up at ungodly hours to spend money in Next. They are not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts - it's a fantastic marketing ploy and gets people spending like there's no tomorrow.
Whenever I have been dragged in I have noticed that it does seem to be well below the quality of the stuff they usually have in and is clearly brought in special. This is of course soon followed by a cold sweat as I realise I must get out of the dreadful, overcrowded sale shop to the safety of the high street.0 -
I have never even been inside a NEXT shop!!
